Car 1 Pedestrian 0 in Long Sault SD&G OPP Round Up MARCH 24, 2016

MOTOR VEHICLE – PEDESTRIAN COLLISION

(South Stormont) – Today, March 24, 2016 at approximately 6:42am, Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry (SD&G) Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers responded to a report of a motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian on Gray Avenue in the Village of Long Sault, South Stormont Township.

Investigation indicates that a passenger truck, driven by a 48-year-old male from South Stormont Township turned onto Gray Avenue from Moulinette Road and, for reasons under investigation, collided with a 57-year-old female from South Stormont Township. She was taken to hospital with serious life-threatening injuries.

SD&G OPP officers, assisted by OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigators (TTCI) continue the investigation.

THEFT OF GAS

(South Dundas) – On March 23, 2016 at approximately 12:58pm, an OPP Highway Safety Division (HSD) office r responded to a report of a theft of gas incident at a Service Station on Highway 401, South Dundas Township. The involved vehicle was intercepted on Highway 401 and the adult male driver was arrested.

Maurice LEWIS (31) of Chateauguay, Quebec is charged with;

– Theft Under $5000
– Drive Motor Vehicle – No Licence (Highway Traffic Act)
– Use Plate Not Authorized for Vehicle (Highway Traffic Act)
– Fail to Notify Change of Address (Highway Traffic Act)

He was released and schedule to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Morrisburg for the criminal charge on April 26, 2016.

DOMESTIC INVESTIGATION

(South Glengarry) – On March 23, 2016 at approximately 8:18pm, SD&G OPP officers responded to a report of a domestic situation at a residence on Paragon Road, South Glengarry Township. Investigation indicated that an altercation between an adult male and his girlfriend resulte d in the accused taking money from the female. Further information revealed the man was in contravention of conditions imposed from previous incidents.

The 31-year-old from South Glengarry Township was arrested and is charged with;

– Theft Under $5000
– Fail to Comply with a Probation Order (2 counts)

He was released and scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall on April 19, 2016. His name is not being released in order to protect the identity of the victim.

THEFTS

(South Dundas) – On March 23, 2016 between 9-11:00pm, a residence located on Broadway Crescent, South Dundas Township was entered. Inside, assorted coins and jewellery were taken.

An investigation continues.
(North Glengarry) – Between March 18-23, 2016 – a snow plow was taken from a commercial property on County Road 34, North Glengarry Township. It is described as a yellow Carmikel V-Plow, 8’6” wide with the word “Fisher” affixed. The unit has two (2) large lights at the top of the blade.
