CAS Called After Domestic Charges in Cornwall Ontario JULY 20, 2016

ASSAULT, MISCHIEF

 

Cornwall, ON – A 54-year-old Cornwall man and a 46-year-old Cornwall woman were arrested on July 18th, 2016. It is alleged during arguments in July, 2016 the woman punched her husband and he damaged her car. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. During the investigation both were taken into custody and charged accordingly. The woman was held for a bail hearing while the man was released to appear in court on August23rd, 2016. Their names were not released as it would identify each other as victims.

 

OVERCOME RESISTANCE

 

Cornwall, ON – A 44-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on July 19th, 2016 and charged with overcome resistance (choking). It is alleged during an argument on July 19th, 2016 the man chocked his 36-year-old girlfriend and police were contacted to investigate. During the investigation the man was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. His name was not released as it would identify the victim in the matter.

 

OBSTRUCT, RESIST ARREST, ASSAULT POLICE, FORCIBLE CONFINEMENT

 

Cornwall, ON – A 24-year-old man and a 23-year-old woman both from Cornwall were arrested on July 19th, 2016 and charged with resist arrest, obstruct police and forcible confinement. The man was also charged with assault police. It is alleged on July 19th, 2016 police and CAS attempted to check on the well being of two children at a Cornwall residence. Once at the residence the man and the woman refused to cooperate with police and a struggle ensued. Both were taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. The children in question were cared for by CAS. Their names were not released as it would identify the children.

 

THEFT UNDER $5000, BREACH

 

Cornwall, ON – Cody Burelle, 18 of Cornwall was arrested on July 19th, 2016 and charged with theft under $5000 and breach of probation for failing to keep the peace. It is alleged on July19th, 2016 the man attended a Ninth Street store, selected merchandise and made no attempt to pay for the item as he left the store. He was stopped by the Loss Prevention Officer and police were contacted. The man was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

 

WARRANT

 

Cornwall, ON – Jeffrey Ivens, 37 of Cornwall was arrested on July 19th, 2016 on the strength of a warrant. It is alleged the man was wanted for a theft charge and a warrant was issued for his arrest. On July 19th, 2016 the man attended police headquarters to deal with the matter. He was taken into custody on the strength of the warrant and released to appear in court at a later date.
