iPad Theft in Cornwall Ontario POLICE BLOTTER July 26, 2016

ROBBERY, POSSESSION OF STOLEN PROPERTY, ASSAULT WITH A WEAPON, POSSESSION OF A WEAPON FOR A DANGEROUS PURPOSE, BREACH

 

Cornwall, ON – Bradley Mondoux, 22 and Shelley Champagne, 43 both from Cornwall were arrested on July 22nd, 2016. It is alleged in the early morning hours of July 22nd, 2016 Mondoux attended a Second Street East store, concealed his identity and demanded money from the clerk all the while brandishing a knife. Mondoux then threatened bystanders with the knife as he fled the scene with Champagne. Police were contacted to investigate and a member of the Cornwall Community Police Service spotted the suspect’s vehicle in the area of Bryden Street while responding to the call. Both were taken into custody during the traffic stop and stolen clothing was located during a search of the vehicle. Mondoux and Champagn were charged as follows:

 

Mondoux:

·         Disguise with intent

·         Robbery with a weapon

·         Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose

·         Assault with a weapon

·         Property obtained by crime

·         Breach of probation

 

Champagne:

 

·         Robbery with a weapon

·         Property obtained by crime

 

As a result of a separate investigation, Mondoux was also charged with possession of a stolen motorcycle.

 

Both Mondoux and Champagne were held for a bail hearing.

 

THEFT UNDER $5000, BREACH

 

Cornwall, ON – Nancy Waldrif, 23 of Cornwall was arrested on July 23rd, 2016 and charged with theft under $5000. It is alleged on July 17th, 2016 the woman removed an iPad from an unattended purse at a McConnell Avenue address and police were contacted to investigate. During the investigation the woman was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

 

HARASSING PHONE CALLS

 

Cornwall, ON – A 55-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on July 23rd, 2016 and charged with harassing phone calls. It is alleged the man repeatedly contacted his ex-girlfriend despite having been warned by police not to. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court at a later date. His name was not released as it would identify the victim in the matter.

 

ASSAULT, MISCHIEF, THREATS

 

Cornwall, ON – A 31-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on July 24th, 2016 and charged with two counts of assault, threats and mischief. It is alleged during arguments on July 24th, 2016 the man damaged a wall, slapped his common-law wife, got on top her and threatened to harm her. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. During the investigation the man was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. His name was not released as it would identify the victim in the matter.

 

BREACH

 

Cornwall, ON – A 59-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on July 24th, 2016 and charged with breach of recognizance for being within 100 meters of someone. It is alleged on more than occasion during the month of July, 2016 the man was seen bicycling in the area of where the person is known to reside and police were contacted to investigate. On July 24th, 2016 the man attended police headquarters to deal with the matter. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on August 23rd, 2016. His name was not released as it would identify the victim in the matter.

 

Cornwall, ON – Kimberly Laired, 35 of Cornwall was arrested on July 25th, 2016 and charged with breach of undertaking for being at a specific store and failing to keep the peace. It is alleged while investigating an unrelated matter on July 19th, 2016 a member of the Cornwall Community Police Service spotted the woman in the parking lot of a store she has conditions not to attend and an investigation ensued. On July 25th, 2016 the woman attended police headquarters to deal with the matter. She was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

 

MISCHIEF, BREACH

 

Cornwall, ON – Jonathan Burwell, 26 of Cornwall was arrested on July 25th, 2016 and charged with mischief and breach of undertaking for failing to keep the peace. It is alleged during the month of June, 2016 the man punctured four tires on a vehicle owned by someone he knows and police were contacted to investigate. On July 25th, 2016 the man was located by police, taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

 

PROPERTY OBTAINED BY CRIME

 

Cornwall, ON – Diane Martin, 45 of Cornwall was arrested on July 26th, 2016 and charged with four counts of property obtained by crime and breach of probation for failing to keep the peace. It is alleged during an investigation during the month of June, 2016 police located two stolen snowmobiles, one stolen trailer and a stolen snow blower at her residence. On July 25th, 2016 the woman attended police headquarters to deal with the matter. She was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on August, 25th, 2016.
