Hintonburg Mayhem Suspect Released With No Charges in Ottawa AUG 2, 2016

 

(Ottawa) – The Ottawa Police Service is currently investigating a commercial break and enter from the Richmond Road area that led police on a short vehicle pursuit then a foot chase through a Hintenburg Park.

The officer was attempting to apprehend the suspect at which point a scuffle broke out resulting in a single discharge of the officers firearm, neither the suspect or the officer were injured. The suspect then managed to back track to the officer’s cruiser and flee the scene.

The suspect abandoned the vehicle a short distance later and through police resources he was eventually located in Aylmer, Quebec and apprehended.  Thanks to the assistance of the RCMP and Gatineau Police, a 37 year old man is in custody and facing a list of criminal charges.

UPDATED

(Ottawa) – The Ottawa Police Service West District Investigation Unit confirmed that the 37 year old male was released with no charges.  The investigation is ongoing.
