Additional charges of sexual assault for a former teacher

(Ottawa) — The Ottawa Police Service Sexual Assault and Child Abuse (SACA) Section has continued to investigate allegations of sexual assault against a former teacher, resulting in additional charges.

Robert CLARKE, 72, of Morrisburg, is now charged with two additional counts of Gross Indecency after two victims came forward in response to an Ottawa Police news release in June 2016. The offences occurred between 1973 and 1992 while CLARKE was in the course of his duties as a teacher.

CLARKE will be appearing in court on October 24th, 2016.

Investigators are concerned there could be more victims. The investigation continues.

“The Ottawa Police will respect a victim’s wishes to pursue or not pursue the matter before the courts,” said Staff Sergeant Angela McDade, SACA. “The reporting of these incidents by victims to police is key for investigators to identify suspects and determine crime trends.”
