DRIVER IDENTIFIED IN FATAL MOTOR VEHICLE COLLISION (update)

(South Stormont) – On September 28, 2016 at approximately 8:44pm, Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry (SD&G) Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers responded to a report of single motor vehicle collision on Highway 401 westbound lanes, South Stormont Township (between Moulinette Road and Dickinson Road).

Investigation indicated that a tractor-trailer unit had been westbound when, for reasons under investigation, it left the roadway and overturned in the median. The male driver (lone occupant)  Iqbal ZAFAR (59) of Montreal, Quebec was pronounced deceased at the scene.

SD&G OPP assisted by OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigators (TTCI) continue the investigation. A section of Highway 401 (westbound lanes) was closed to traffic and fully re-opened this morning at approximately 8:00am.

FATAL MOTOR VEHICLE COLLISION

(South Stormont) – On September 28, 2016 at approximately 8:44pm, Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry (SD&G) Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers responded to a report of single motor vehicle collision on Highway 401 westbound lanes, South Stormont Township (between Moulinette Road and Dickinson Road).

The 59-year-old male driver (lone occupant) from Montreal, Quebec was pronounced deceased at the scene. His name is being withheld pending notification of next-of-kin.

SD&G OPP assisted by OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigators (TTCI) continue the investigation. A section of Highway 401 (westbound lanes) was closed to traffic and fully re-opened this morning at approximately 8:00am.
