YOUTH CHARGED IN ROBBERY (update)

(North Dundas) – As a result of an ongoing investigation into a reported robbery incident, Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry (SD&G) Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a male youth.

On November 2, 2016, at approximately 3:15pm, SD&G OPP officers, with the assistance of OPP Canine Unit, Emergency Response Team (ERT), Forensic Identification Services (FIS) and the SD&G Crime Unit responded to a report of an armed robbery that occurred outside of the RBC Royal Bank in the Village of Winchester, North Dundas Township. Investigation indicated that a male was confronted by an unknown male, who brandished a weapon and demanded money.  The suspect struck the victim causing minor injuries. An undisclosed amount of money was taken. The suspect fled the area on foot.
On November 5, 2016 – a 16-year-old male youth from North Dundas Township was arrested and is charged with;

– Robbery Using a Firearm
– Disguise With Intent
– Possession of a Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
– Assault

He was held in custody pending an appearance (bail) at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall. His name is being withheld as per provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
