Calls for Service
Kingston Police had 137 calls for service during the 48 hour period starting from 5:00 a.m. on January 7, 2017. Of these, 92 calls occurred in the city central area, 29 in the west end, 5 in the east end, and 3 north of Highway 401. Some of these included:

- 1 assault calls
- 5 harassment calls
- 4 fight/disturbance calls
- 4 undesirable calls
- 4 alarm calls
- 8 noise complaints
- 1 missing person calls
- 4 Mental Health Act calls
- 4 medical assist calls
- 10 assist citizen calls
- 11 break and enter calls
- 11 theft calls
- 2 shoplifting calls
- 1 theft of vehicle call
- 1 mischief calls
- 5 motor vehicle collisions
- 1 impaired driving calls
- 2 parking/vehicle complaints
- 6 driving complaints
- 16 suspicious activity calls
There were 7 individuals arrested within the last 48 hours, with 7 men, between 22 and 58 years of age, held for later release or to attend bail hearings for the following offences: breach of probation, care and control, over 80, assault police, and resist arrest.

Impaired Driver Caught Passed Out in Running Vehicle

A 22-year-old local man caught passed out in a vehicle was found to have more than 1 ½ times over the legal limit of alcohol.
On January 8, 2016 at approximately 5:00 a.m. an officer began investigating a report of a passed out male in a vehicle in the area of Highway 38 and 401. The officer observed a vehicle running with the lights on. When the officer approached he observed the accused with his head leaning against the window. The officer could smell a strong odour of alcohol and had to shake the accused to wake him up. After a brief conversation the accused was arrested.
The accused was transported to police headquarters where provided breath sample indicating his blood alcohol level was more than 1 ½ times the legal limit.
The accused was charged with care and control of a motor vehicle while ability was impaired by alcohol and exceed 80 milligrams of blood alcohol.
The accused was later released on a Promise to Appear (PTA) with a future court date. His driver’s licence is automatically suspended for 90 days and would face a one year suspension if convicted. The vehicle was seized and impounded for seven days, with the accused being responsible for all fees and fines.
Man Charged with Assault Police after Altercation in his Residence

A 33-year-old local man is facing assault police charges after a minor altercation with two officers that attended his residence for a well-being check.
On January 8, 2017 at approximately 8:30am officers attended an address on Rideau Street to check on the well-being of the accused. Police had been contacted by a person with concerns over Facebook posts made by the accused. When officers entered the residence they observed evidence of drug use including used needles and various drug paraphernalia. Officers initially tried to persuade the accused to accompany them to the hospital for assessment. However, the accused became belligerent and started slamming stuff around. The accused then threw his shoulder into one officer and lunged at the second officer with clenched fists. The officers quickly brought the accused to the ground and handcuffed him.
The accused was transported to police headquarters where he was later released on a promise to appear.
The accused was charged with assault police officer and resist arrest.
