Calls for Service

Kingston Police had 110 calls for service during the 24 hour period starting from 5:00 a.m. on May 23, 2017. Of these, 69 calls occurred in the city central area, 23 in the west end, 4 in the east end, and 7 north of Highway 401. Some of these included:

  • 6 domestic calls
  • 4 assault calls
  • 1 harassment call
  • 3 fight/disturbance calls
  • 6 undesirable calls
  • 1 drunk call
  • 1 alarm call
  • 4 noise complaints
  • 2 Mental Health Act calls
  • 4 medical assist calls
  • 11 assist citizen calls
  • 3 break and enter calls
  • 2 theft calls
  • 1 shoplifting call
  • 3 mischief calls
  • 1 fraud call
  • 5 motor vehicle collisions
  • 1 parking/vehicle complaint
  • 4 driving complaints
  • 1 traffic concern
  • 11 suspicious activity calls
  • 2 drug calls

There were 6 men arrested within the last 24 hours, between 23 and 61 years of age, for the following: criminal harassment, theft under $5000, assault cause bodily harm, breach of probation, and breach undertaking.

To further community awareness and improve accessibility to calls-for-police-service occurring in the community, Kingston Police has merged Geographic Information Systems (GIS) technology with police calls-for-service data for user-friendly public consumption.

Unwanted Text Messages and Phone Calls Ends in Arrest

A 28-year-old local man has been arrested after harassing his ex-girlfriend with unwanted messages and phone calls.

On May 9, 2017 the victim ender her relationship with the accused. On May 23, 2017 the victim began receiving numerous unwanted text messages and phone calls from the accused. The victim told the accused to stop contacting her, but he continued sending over 100 text messages and making over 30 calls.

At approximately 5:00 p.m. the accused showed up at the victim’s residence. The victim told the accused to go away, but he refused and remained outside her front door until police were called. While the investigating officer was speaking with the victim the accused continued to call and message repeatedly.

At approximately 6:35 p.m. officers located the accused at his residence and arrested him without incidne.t The accused was transported to police headquarters where he was held to attend a bail hearing the following day.

The accused was charged with criminal harassment.

Police Looking for Assistance in Identifying B&E Suspect

At approximately 12:15 a.m. on May 19, 2017 a break and enter occurred at a business in the 2000 block of Princess Street. Files were gone through and a white iPhone was stolen.

Man Arrested for Domestic Assault from Last Summer

A 23-year-old local man has been arrested after police uncovered a domestic assault that occurred last summer.

On May 23, 2017 police began investigating a report of domestic assault from last summer. The investigation revealed that the victim and the accused were living together in a mid-town residence at the time of the incident. During an argument the accused struck the victim in the head hard enough to cause her to fall to the ground. Since the incident the accused has suffered on-going medical issues.

At approximately 3:45 p.m. the accused was located at his residence and arrested without incident. The accused was transported to police headquarters where he was held to attend a bail hearing the following day.

The accused was charged with assault cause bodily harm and breach of probation.

Man Caught Driving 66 km/hr over Speed Limit

A 21-year-old local man had his licence suspended and vehicle impounded after being caught traveling 66 km/hr over the speed limit.

On May 23, 2017 police were conducting speed enforcement on Jackson Mills Road. At approximately 8:45 p.m. the officer observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed in the posted 50 km/hr zone. The officer clocked the vehicle on radar traveling at 116 km/hr.

The vehicle was impounded for 7 days and driver’s licence was seized.

The accused was charged with Stunt Driving under the Highway Traffic Act.

Lone Star Texas Grill & Law Enforcement Support Special Olympics

Kington Police are excited to take part in the annual Cops and Cowboys fundraising event held at the Lone Star Texas Grill to raise funds for Special Olympics Ontario.

On Thursday, May 25th you’ll get service with a smile…and a badge. Kingston Police officers will be working side-by-side with your server to bring great Lone Star meals to your table. Officers will be collecting donations or “tips” which will benefit the Special Olympic programs in the Kingston area. This will occur from 11:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. for the lunch hour and from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. over dinner.
