Calls for Service

Kingston Police had 131 calls for service during the 24 hour period starting from 5:00 a.m. on May 30, 2017. Of these, 82 calls occurred in the city central area, 30 in the west end, 5 in the east end, and 3 north of Highway 401. Some of these included:

  • 3 domestic calls
  • 3 assault calls
  • 7 harassment calls
  • 2 fight/disturbance calls
  • 1 undesirable call
  • 1 customer trouble call
  • 5 alarm calls
  • 1 neighbour dispute call
  • 2 noise complaints
  • 1 missing person call
  • 1 Mental Health Act call
  • 15 assist citizen calls
  • 2 break and enter calls
  • 12 theft calls
  • 2 shoplifting calls
  • 1 theft of vehicle call
  • 2 mischief calls
  • 1 fraud call
  • 6 motor vehicle collisions
  • 12 driving complaints
  • 9 suspicious activity calls
  • 1 trespass/prowler call

There were 6 individuals arrested within the last 24 hours including 5 men and 1 women, between 24 and 45 years of age, for the following: assault, unlawful possession of a drug, mischief, and breach probation. Two persons were arrested on outstanding warrants.

Domestic Assault Ends when Neighbour Responds to Call for Help

A 25-year-old local man was arrested after losing his temper and assaulting his ex-girlfriend.

On May 31, 2017 at approximately 11:15 p.m. the accused attended the victim (ex-girlfriend) residence. The accused had been invited over earlier in the day, but the late night visit quickly turned into an argument. The accused lost his temper during the argument and began throwing things around the apartment. The victim attempted to call police, but the accused grabbed her phone and smashed it. An altercation ensued and the accused began assaulting the victim. The attack ended only after a neighbor and another person responded to the victims cries for help. Police were called and the accused left.

Officers located the accused nearby and arrested him. During a search the accused was found to be in possession of suspected marijuana, despite a probation order not to possess any unlawful drugs.

The accused was transported to police headquarters where he was held to attend a bail hearing the following day.

The accused was charged with assault, unlawful possession of a drug, and three counts of breach probation.

Man Goes From Locked in Trunk to Locked Up

A 24-year-old local man went to jail after spending several hours locked in the trunk of the victim’s car.

On May 30, 2017 at approximately 2:15 a.m. the accused returned to his midtown residence where he resides with his ex-girlfriend and her son. The accused was upset with the victim for ignoring him earlier and he flew into a rage, knocking over and damaging her dresser. When the victim tried to stop the accused from breaking more of her furniture, the accused punched and scratched her. The victim’s son woke up and forced the accused out of the residence and into the garage. The accused was told the police were being called, but no call was made at that time.

At approximately 5:15 a.m. the victim could hear knocking from the garage and went out to investigate. The victim found the accused locked in the trunk of her car, where he had hid earlier when he though police were attending. The victim let the accused out and he immediately began causing more problems. This time, police were called and the accused was found hiding in the residence and arrested.

The accused was transported to police headquarters where he was held to attend a bail hearing the following day.

The accused was charged with mischief, assault, and breach of probation.
