Calls for Service

Kingston Police had 413 calls for service over the weekend of June 2 to 4, 2017. Of these, 269 calls occurred in the city central area, 98 in the west end, 4 in the east end, and 5 north of Highway 401. Some of these included:

  • 17 noise complaints
  • 1 missing person call
  • 11 Mental Health Act calls
  • 15 medical assist calls
  • 32 assist citizen calls
  • 12 break and enter calls
  • 29 theft calls
  • 3 shoplifting calls
  • 2 theft of vehicle calls
  • 8 mischief calls
  • 3 fraud calls
  • 9 motor vehicle collisions
  • 6 impaired driving calls
  • 5 parking/vehicle complaints
  • 19 driving complaints

There were 25 individuals arrested over the weekend of June 2 to 4, 2017 including 20 men and 5 women, between 15 and 60 years of age, for the following: unlawfully in a dwelling-house, harassment, possession of a weapon, assault with a weapon, possession of controlled drug, break and enter, cause disturbance, sexual assault, extortion, utter threats to cause death, assault, mischief under $5000, unlawfully in possession of controlled drug, care and control of a vehicle while impaired by alcohol, operating a vehicle with over 80 mg of alcohol, disqualified operation of a vehicle, operation of a vehicle while impaired by a drug, breach of undertaking, breach of recognizance and breach of probation and breach of the peace. Two persons were arrested for public intoxication and three on outstanding warrants.

Man Charged after Attempting to Extort Victim for Sexual Act

A 19-year-old Belleville man has been charged with extortion after trying to elicit the victim for a sexual act.

On January 28, 2017 at approximately 2:00 a.m. the accused called the victim and threatened to send a message to her fiancée if she did not perform a sexual act on him. The victim hung up the phone, but the accused persisted using social media as a way to contact her and her fiancée.

The incident was reported to police and a warrant was applied for as the accused had no fixed address and his whereabouts were unknown.

On June 4, 2017 the accused was arrested in Belleville. The accused was transported to Kingston police headquarters where he was held to attend a bail hearing the following day.

The accused was charged with extortion and breach of probation.

Both Parties Injured during Early Morning Domestic

A 34-year-old local man was arrested after police respond to an early morning domestic and find both parties injured.

On June 4, 2017 at approximately 6:45 a.m. both the man and woman involved in a domestic altercation called police alleging they had been assaulted. Police responded to the east end residence and spoke with the man and woman involved. Officers observed that both parties had injuries. Officers learned that the man had sexually assaulted the woman which led to a physical altercation that included the man threatening the victim.

The man was arrested and transported to police headquarters where he was held to attend a bail hearing. He was charged with sexual assault, utter threats to cause death, and assault.

Witness Wakes up Driver, Police Wake up Driver, Police Arrest Driver

A 54-year-old local man was arrested after he was found passed out in vehicle while impaired by alcohol.

On June 3, 2017 at approximately 10:00 p.m. the accused was seen in the driver’s seat of a parked truck in the area Avondale Crescent and Baxter Avenue. The accused appeared to be asleep. A motorist concerned about the accused well-being honked his horn and flashed his lights. The accused did wake up, but appeared to be impaired and police were called.

On arrival police discovered the accused had passed out once again. The officer roused the accused and arrested him for care and control.

The accused was transported to police headquarters where he provided two breath samples. The accused was found to have nearly 2 times the legal limit of alcohol in his system.

The accused was charged with care and control of a vehicle while impaired by alcohol, operating a vehicle with over 80 mg of alcohol and disqualified operation of a vehicle.

The accused was held to attend a bail hearing the following day. His driver’s licence was automatically suspended for 90 days and the vehicle was seized and impounded for 45 days, with the accused being responsible for all fees and fines.

Man Causes Scene after Guitar Solo Not Appreciated

A 39-year-old local man was arrested after causing a disturbance at the Wolfe Island Ferry dock with loud music and bad behavior.

On June 3, 2017 at approximately 7:00 a.m. the accused was sitting inside the passenger waiting area for the Wolfe Island Ferry. The accused plugged his guitar into an amplifier and began playing. Crew members went to speak with the accused after receiving multiple complaints. The accused became irate prompting a call to police.

Officers attended and spoke to the accused. Officers learned the accused did not intend to take the ferry and he was directed to leave. The accused began ranting and was cautioned by police regarding causing a disturbance. The accused exited the building where he dropped his guitar and amplifier and began yelling and swearing and causing a further disturbance in front of adults and children. The accused was warned multiple times by police, but refused to calm down and leave.

The accused was arrested and transported to police headquarters where he was held to attend a bail hearing the following day.

The accused was charged with cause disturbance and breach of probation.

Man Arrested for Impaired by Drug after Rear End Collision

A 23-year-old local man has been charged after rear ending another vehicle and officers determined he was impaired by drug.

On June 3, 2017 at approximately 9:30 a.m. police received information of a suspected impaired driver that had just left the gas station at Sir John A MacDonald Boulevard and John Counter Boulevard. A responding officer located the vehicle stopped nearby with the driver at the front attempting to re-attach the licence plate.

An investigation revealed the accused had just rear ended another vehicle and after exchanging information the other driver had left. The accused was not found to be under the influence of alcohol, but suspected to be under the influence of drugs and the officer learned the accused had taken Cannabis. The accused was arrested after failing multiple field sobriety tests.

During a search of the vehicle officers located suspected marijuana, Xanax pills, a scale and multiple baggies. A male passenger whom appeared to be impaired was also arrested and later released.

The accused was transported to police headquarters where he later released with a future court date. The accused was charged with operation of a vehicle while impaired by a drug.

He was issued a 90 day driving suspension. The rental car he was driving was seized.

Youth Arrested after Argument over Marijuana Led to Violent Attack

A 15-year-old local youth has been charged after an argument over marijuana led to a violent attack on a female youth.

On June 3, 2017 at approximately 4:30 a.m. police were called to a mid-town apartment in regards to a disturbance. Information received was that the accused and the victim were involved in a physical altercation. Upon arrival a witness reported that the accused had assaulted the victim and put a knife to her throat. Officers attended the apartment and found both parties had calmed down.

An investigation revealed there had been an argument over marijuana. The argument escalated and became physical. During the altercation the accused choked and hit the victim and at one point held a knife against her while threatening her. It was also learned that the accused was on probation with conditions not to be near the victim.

The accused was arrested and transported to police headquarters where he was held to attend a bail hearing the following day.

The accused was charged with two counts of assault, possession of a weapon, assault with a weapon, utter threats and two counts of breach probation.

Man Trying to Get Home, Breaks into Wrong House

A 29-year-old local man is facing multiple criminal charges after breaking into a home he thought was his.

On June 2, 2017 at approximately 11:45 p.m. the accused arrived by taxi at an address on Lakeview Avenue. The accused who was suspected to be intoxicated by alcohol, failed to pay for his fare and proceeded to a residence where he began banging and kicking at the door while yelling and swearing. The female occupant fearful for her safety, called 911. The accused continued to kick at the door until he busted his way in, only to realize it was not his home.

The accused then left on foot still refusing to pay for his fare. Officers arrived and located the accused in a parking lot at the rear of an address on Front Road. The accused was arrested and while in the back of the police cruiser the accused damaged the barrier.

The accused was transported to police headquarters where he was held to attend a bail hearing the following day.

The accused was charged with two counts of mischief and unlawfully in a dwelling-house.

Drug Investigation Ends in Arrest of Woman for Trafficking Meth

A 55-year-old local woman is facing multiple drug related charges after an investigation ends with her arrest and the execution of a search warrant at her residence.

Members of the Kingston Police Crime Unit were conducting a Controlled Drug and Substance Act investigation regarding the accused who resides on Montreal Street.

On June 2, 2017 at approximately 4:30 p.m. officers observed the accused leaving her residence with another female. Both parties were arrested and officers found the accused to be in possession of a small amount of suspected marijuana and Canadian currency. Shortly after the arrest, members of Kingston Police Emergency Response Unit executed a search warrant at the residence. Three persons were arrested and later released unconditionally.

During the search of the residence, nearly 100 grams of suspected Crystal Methamphetamine was seized along with digital scales, various prescription medication, 5 Winchester 12 gauge shotgun shells and various drug paraphernalia.

The accused was transported to police headquarters where she was held to attend a bail hearing the following day.

The accused was charged with unlawful possession of a controlled drug, unlawful possession of a controlled drug for the purpose of trafficking, possession of proceeds of crime, and four counts of possession of ammunition while prohibited.

Kingston Officers Attending 2017 World Police and Fire Games

 

The World Police and Fire Games (http://www.la17wpfg.com/6/index.htm) will be held in Los Angeles California on August 7, 2017. Some of our members will be participating to represent Kingston!

18-year-veteran, Constable Greg Anderson, will be attending to compete in multiple cycling events. This will be Greg’s second Police and Fire Games as he competed in Fairfax, Virginia in 2015. That year he took part in the men’s individual time trial and road race cycling events.  For 2017 Greg will be challenging himself even further by competing in the same events, but also tackling the men’s individual hill climb. The hill climb may only be 4 kilometers, but it’s straight up! Seeing there are no Mountains in Kingston to train on, it will be a new challenge for Greg.
