HEAT ALERT for Cornwall Ontario Area for SUNDAY JUNE 11, 2017

Cornwall Ontario – A heat alert has been issued for the Cornwall Ontario region with temperatures expected to hover around the 30c mark Sunday and reach as high as 33c Monday.

Rain is expected to return late Monday to cool things down.  Temps around the 25c range are expected for most of this week.

Stay tuned to updates and a reminder to have extra care for your pets and please do not leave animals or children in cars for any period of time during warmer temperatures.

Heat Warning in effect for:

  • Cornwall – Lancaster
  • Maxville – Alexandria
  • Morrisburg – Long Sault
  • Winchester – Newington

First heat event of the season beginning today.

Temperatures are expected to reach 31 degrees today and 32 degrees on Monday with overnight lows near 20 degrees, providing little relief from the heat during this timeframe. Temperatures are expected to fall below heat warning criteria by the middle of this week.

Watch for the effects of heat illness: swelling, rash, cramps, fainting, heat exhaustion, heat stroke and the worsening of some health conditions.

Drink plenty of water even before you feel thirsty and stay in a cool place.

Seek a cool place such as a tree-shaded area, swimming pool, shower or bath, or air-conditioned spot like a public building.

Never leave people or pets inside a parked vehicle.
