Senior & Pet ALERT as TEMPS Over 30c in Cornwall Area JUNE 12, 2017

Cornwall Ontario –  It’s hotter than predicted with it being 31c outside CFN central in Downtown Cornwall Ontario at 1:51 PM.

While things are expected to cool down a bit starting tomorrow please stay hydrated and make sure pets have plenty of water and don’t be one of those idiots that leaves their dogs in their car “for just a minute with the window open”.

No rain is expected until Thursday with Tuesday having a high of 27c.

Heat Warning in effect for:

  • Cornwall – Lancaster
  • Maxville – Alexandria
  • Morrisburg – Long Sault
  • Winchester – Newington

First heat event of the season continues today.

Temperatures today will reach the low thirties with humidex values near forty. Overnight lows are expected to be near 20 degrees, providing little relief from the heat during this timeframe. Temperatures are expected fall below heat warning criteria by Tuesday as a trough moves into Southern Ontario.

Watch for the effects of heat illness: swelling, rash, cramps, fainting, heat exhaustion, heat stroke and the worsening of some health conditions.

Drink plenty of water even before you feel thirsty and stay in a cool place.

Seek a cool place such as a tree-shaded area, swimming pool, shower or bath, or air-conditioned spot like a public building.

Never leave people or pets inside a parked vehicle.

  1. Dawn do you remember a teacher at CCVS called Gordie Higgins. Well Gord taught during the time that I first went to CCVS as well and he had white hair back then. Mr. Higgins was a big man back then. I just finished my dishes and it was just then that his name came to me. It is hot and my daughter went to bed – the job that she has is terrible with the type of clientele unlike other places.
