THEFT UNDER $5000, BREACH

Cornwall, ON – John Wesley Cook, 38 of Akwesasne was arrested on July 27th, 2017 and charged with theft under $5000 and breach of probation for failing to keep the peace. It is alleged on July 15th, 2017 the man attended a Sydney Street store and removed a quantity of cheese making no attempt to pay for the merchandise as he left the store. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On July 27th, 2017 police attended the Cornwall Courthouse as the man was being held on an unrelated matter. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

ASSAULT, BREACH

Cornwall, ON – A 31-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on July 27th, 2017 and charged with assault and breach of probation, undertaking and recognizance for failing to keep the peace. It is alleged on July 26th, 2017 the man assaulted his girlfriend and police were contacted to investigate. On July 27th, 2017 the man was located by police, taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. His name was not released as it would identify the victim in the matter.

ASSAULT WITH A WEAPON, POSSESSION OF A WEAPON FOR A DANGEROUS PURPOSE, AGGRAVATED ASSAULT, BREACH

Cornwall, ON – Two 17-year-old Cornwall youths were arrested on July 27th, 2017 and charged with aggravated assault and assault with a weapon. One of the youths was also charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose. It is alleged during a confrontation on July 27th, 2017 a 19-year-old woman known to them was cut by a knife and police were contacted to investigate. During the investigation the two youths were taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. Their names were not released as per provision of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

WARRANT

Cornwall, ON – Susan Chiefari, 35 of Morrisburg was arrested on July 27th, 2017 on the strength of a warrant. It is alleged the woman failed to attend court on July 18th, 2017 for a theft and breach charge and a warrant was issued for her arrest. On July 27th, 2017 the woman attended police headquarters to deal with the matter. She was taken into custody on the strength of the warrant and released to appear in court on September 7th, 2017.

Cornwall, ON – A 36-year-old Akwesasne man was arrested on July 27th, 2017 on the strength of a warrant. It is alleged between January, 2014 and December, 2016 the man assaulted his common-law wife, threatened her and damaged some of her property. Police were contacted and a warrant was obtained for his arrest. On July 27th, 2017 a member of the Cornwall Community Police Service assumed custody of the man from Akwesasne Mohawk Police as they had the man in custody on the strength of Cornwall’s warrant. The warrant was executed and the man was held for a bail hearing. His name was not released as it would identify the victim in the matter.

  1. Maybe someone has a bunch of mice in their house to catch and taking cheese is a way of attracting them to the mouse traps. In downtown Ottawa there are plenty of rats (the 4 legged kind) and you see them at night especially where the garbage cans are located. Where we used to live in Ottawa it was near a tiny creek of water and we would look out from the window at night and spot them.
