Calls for Service

Kingston Police had 117 calls for service during the 24 hour period starting from 5:00 a.m. on August 29, 2017. Of these, 83 calls occurred in the city central area, 26 in the west end, and 2 in the east end. Some of these included:

  • 5 domestic calls
  • 3 assault calls
  • 1 sexual assault
  • 6 harassment calls
  • 1 fight/disturbance call
  • 8 undesirable calls
  • 1 alarm call
  • 1 noise complaint
  • 2 medical assist calls
  • 14 assist citizen calls
  • 8 theft calls
  • 1 shoplifting call
  • 2 mischief calls
  • 2 fraud calls
  • 3 motor vehicle collisions
  • 5 driving complaints
  • 2 traffic concerns
  • 11 suspicious activity calls
  • 4 drug calls

There were 9 individuals arrested within the last 24 hours including 7 men and 2 women, between 19 and 41 years of age, for the following: harassment, cause disturbance, assault, theft, forcible confinement, breach recognizance and breach probation.

Customer Arrested for Harassing Behaviour

A 33-year-old local man has been arrested after he continued his harassing behaviour despite a police warning.

The accused had been attending a business on Queen Street for the past few years. Recently his behaviour towards female staff when male staff were not present had become concerning. As a result of his actions the accused was told by staff to stay away. The accused continued to return to the business and was asked on multiple occasions to leave. On August 18 he was cautioned by police to stay away from the business and not communicate with the staff.

On August 29, 2017 the accused returned to the business. He left but was located later that day by police and arrested without incident.

The accused was transported to police headquarters where he was held to attend a bail hearing the following day.

The accused was charged with harassment and breach of probation.

Woman Restrained by Citizens after Attacking Teenagers

A 40-year-old local woman who was drinking liquor and causing a disturbance was restrained by citizens after she assaulted two teenagers.

On August 29, 2017 at approximately 8:00 p.m. the accused was in the area of Princess Street and Bath Road. The accused was consuming a bottle of liquor while approaching people and yelling at them. When the accused approached a group of teenagers she punched one teen in the face and spit in the face of another. The accused continued to act aggressively and threatening while waving the bottle around until a group of witnesses knocked the bottle out of her hands and restrained her while police were called.

The accused was arrested and transported to police headquarters where she was held to attend a bail hearing the following day.

The accused was charged with cause disturbance, two counts of assault, breach recognizance and breach probation.

Woman Charged with Forcible Confinement and Assault

A 25-year-old local woman has been arrested after she prevented her common-law from leaving during an argument and struck him repeatedly.

On August 27, 2017 the accused and the victim became involved in an argument at their east end residence. The victim attempted to leave but the accused kept blocking his way and continued arguing. When the victim managed get out of the residence, the accused chased him down the street and punched him in the back. The victim later returned to check on their infant child. The accused resumed her erratic behaviour, blocking the victim from leaving while punching him numerous times.

The incident was reported the following day and on August 29 at approximately 11:30 a.m. the accused was located and arrested without incident.

The accused was transported to police headquarters where she was held to attend a bail hearing.

The accused was charged with forcible confinement and assault.
