CUPE Ontario president joins Cornwall’s municipal workers in defending quality of city’s services

CORNWALL, ON – The president of CUPE Ontario will join Cornwall’s municipal workers this evening and urge them to continue standing up for high-quality public services in the city.

President Fred Hahn will address a rally by Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) members as they gather prior to the meeting of Cornwall city council. CUPE members work in long-term care, city libraries, and municipal services, as well as paramedics for the region.

“This city has a good slogan, ‘Choose Cornwall.’ So, we’re sending a message to city councillors and the mayor in a language they’ll understand,” said Hahn.

“We’re here to tell them that ‘CUPE chooses Cornwall’: that CUPE members choose Cornwall every day, as they deliver the best possible public services to their fellow citizens. And they choose Cornwall when they refuse to let those services be devalued or degraded.

“I am proud of my fellow CUPE members for their determination to protect the vital services they provide and I’m here to let them know they have the support of their union in their fight,” said Hahn.
