Calls for Service

Kingston Police had 132 calls for service during the 24 hour period starting from 5:00 a.m. on March 19, 2018. Of these, 99 calls occurred in the city central area, 21 in the west end, 4 in the east end, and 4 north of Highway 401. Some of these included:

  • 1 assault call
  • 8 harassment calls
  • 2 fight/disturbance calls
  • 3 undesirable calls
  • 1 neighbour dispute call
  • 1 noise complaint
  • 1 trouble with kids call
  • 2 missing person calls
  • 3 Mental Health Act calls
  • 4 medical assist calls
  • 10 assist citizen calls
  • 6 break and enter calls
  • 8 theft calls
  • 5 shoplifting calls
  • 1 theft of vehicle call
  • 5 mischief calls
  • 1 fraud call
  • 6 motor vehicle collisions
  • 3 driving complaints
  • 1 traffic concern
  • 10 suspicious activity calls
  • 1 drug call

There were 7 individuals arrested within the last 24 hours including 4 men and 3 women, between 30 and 56 years of age, for the following: assault, assault with a weapon, mischief, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, assault with a weapon, uttering threats, use firearm, possession of a firearm without a licence, possession controlled drug, and breach probation.

Police Officer Recruitment Event

Kingston Police will be hosting another recruitment event for the position of police constable. The event will take place this Saturday, March 24, 2018 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Kingston police headquarters.

Woman Arrested after Violent Assault and Firearms Offences

A 45-year-old local woman has been arrested after she violently assaulted her spouse and then went after a woman with a loaded rifle.

On March 19, 2018 the accused became enraged when she suspected her husband was being unfaithful. The accused tracked him down at a mutual friend’s residence and then hit him multiple times with a guitar. When other persons in the residence attempted to get the accused out a back door, she picked up a pot of boiling water and threw it at her husband. As a result of the attack the victim suffered scratches and burns, however the incident was not reported to police at that time.

At approximately 5:30 p.m. the accused located the female victim at a west end hotel on Princess Street. The accused entered the female victim’s room with a loaded .22 caliber rifle, but was forced out of the room by a male. Police were called and located the accused sitting in her vehicle in the parking lot with the rifle.

The accused was arrested and transported to police headquarters where she was held to attend a bail hearing the following day.

The accused was charged with assault, assault with a weapon, mischief, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, assault with a weapon, uttering threats, use firearm, possession of a firearm without a licence.

Second Degree Murder Parolee Arrested for Domestic Assault

A 62-year-old local man on conditional release for two counts of second degree murder has been arrested after police learn he assaulted his ex.

In early September 2017 the victim and accused were arguing in their residence. During the course of the argument the accused grabbed the victim by her throat and held her up against a wall. The incident was not reported until March 14, 2018 when the victim disclosed the assault to a friend.

On March 15, 2018 Officers located the accused at his residence and arrested him without incident.

The accused is a federal offender currently on conditional release for two counts of second degree murder from 1981. As a result of being charged with assault in relation to this incident, the accused parole has been revoked. After a bail hearing he was transported direct to a federal holding facility.
