Calls for Service

Kingston Police had 115 calls for service during the 24 hour period starting from 5:00 a.m. on April 18, 2018. Of these, 85 calls occurred in the city central area, 21 in the west end, 6 in the east end, and 1 north of Highway 401. Some of these included:

  • 2 assault calls
  • 1 sexual assault
  • 5 harassment calls
  • 1 fight/disturbance call
  • 6 undesirable calls
  • 1 customer trouble call
  • 4 alarm calls
  • 4 noise complaints
  • 1 Mental Health Act call
  • 4 medical assist calls
  • 19 assist citizen calls
  • 1 break and enter call
  • 7 theft calls
  • 1 shoplifting call
  • 1 mischief call
  • 5 motor vehicle collisions
  • 1 impaired driving call
  • 3 driving complaints
  • 1 traffic concern
  • 7 suspicious activity calls
  • 1 trespass/prowler call

There were 2 men arrested within the last 24 hours, between 14 and 35 years of age, for the following: break and enter, theft, possession of break-in tools, breach recognizance, and breach probation.

Man Breaks into Compound to Steal Chips and Dip

A 35-year-old local man was caught after breaking into a fenced in compound to steal bags of chips, dip and salsa.

On April 19, 2018 at approximately 2:15 a.m. police responded to the industrial area of Grant Timmins Drive and Binnington Court for a report of three suspicious persons. A lone male was located by a fence on private property. The accused had been standing near a hole in the fence and was found to be in possession of wire cutters, a ratchet and socket and a garbage bag full of chips, dip and salsa. A search of the compound revealed the accused had stolen the items from a dumpster.

The accused was transported to police headquarters where he was held to attend a bail hearing the following day.

The accused was charged with break and enter, theft, and possession of break-in tools.

Police Asking for Public’s Assistance to Identify Shoplifter

On April 17, 2018 at approximately 4:35 p.m. the suspect entered a store in the 1100 block of Princess Street. The suspect placed over $340 worth of merchandise inside bags in a shopping cart and a pair of reading glasses in her purse. The suspect left the store without paying for any of the items, but fled on foot when approached by store security.
