Wendy the Weed Witch ~ Medicated Edibles for Pain & Insomnia 071118

Edibles have grown in popularity now that people are free to medicate themselves. Sleep is a crucial component in order to function daily and without it, your brain is affected, energy levels plummet and the joy of life is barely reachable.

As a chronic sufferer, it is vital to sleep. Your body and mind requires a shutdown and if neither is achieved, your health stagnates or worsens.

Edibles have improved my quality of life as I can now sleep for 3 to 5 hours uninterrupted. Although that may not seem like a lot, it is to someone who suffers especially when flare-ups consume your sleep time. You need to use an

Indica strain for this effect. You can use an indica dominant hybrid as well. You will not get the desired effect with a sativa.

There’s several ways to prepare your herb in order to consume it. You can make butter, tinctures, capsules, infused oils etc. You will find many examples on how to extract your product through youtube,  however I purchased a magical butter machine that simplified the whole process to make budder, tincture and infused oils such as olive oil. The machine does everything, but for those who are able to use a pan, crockpot etc., it will do the same, just takes longer.

Don’t throw out your sludge after you’ve extracted. That sludge is full of THC and often can be recycled into brownies, cookies or whatever you want to add it to. The only exception is the alcohol based tinctures. Usually there’s little left of anything and not worth keeping it. I freeze my sludge and when I get low on product, I use it to make a variety of desserts or add it to a sauce.

Here’s a quick and easy recipe for peanut butter cookies;

½ cup of budder

½ cup of brown sugar

½ cup granulated sugar

½ cup of peanut butter

1 egg

1 cup of flour

¼ teaspoon of salt

¼ teaspoon of baking soda

Combine all your liquid ingredients and beat well. Mix your dry ingredients then add it to your liquid bowl.

Once mixed, roll into one inch balls.

Flatten them a little with a fork and put in the pre-heated oven set at 350F and bake for 10-15 minutes.

Cool on a wire rack.
