SIU INVESTIGATION

Cornwall, ON – On July 27th, 2018 a motor vehicle collision occurred involving a cyclist and a CCPS police vehicle. The CCPS subsequently notified the Special Investigations Unit (SIU), who has released the following in relation to the collision and is appealing for witnesses to come forward: https://www.siu.on.ca/en/news_template.php?nrid=4106

THEFT UNDER $5000, POSSESSION OF PROPERTY OBTAINED BY CRIME, POSSESSION OF BREAK-IN TOOLS, BREAK AND ENTER, OBSTRUCT PEACE OFFICER, MISCHIEF UNDER $5000, BREACH

Cornwall, ON – Andre Boisseau, 28, of no fixed address was arrested on July 27th, 2018 and charged with the following:

• Theft under $5000 x 9
• Possession of property obtained by crime
• Possession of break-in instrument x 2
• Break and enter x 2
• Obstruct peace officer
• Mischief under $5000 x 3
• Breach of recognizance (for failing to reside at a certain address and failing to inform Ottawa Police of a change of address)

It is alleged between July 5-25, 2018 the man forced his way into a Second Street East and Montreal Road apartment building, damaging a safe, as well as multiple vehicles in one of the parking lots. The man also allegedly removed numerous items from parked vehicles. It is further alleged on July 24th, 2018 the man attended the Cornwall Community Hospital and took a backpack that did not belong to him. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On July 27th, 2018, police located the man, at which time he allegedly falsely identified himself to police. He was also found to be in possession of keys that did not belong to him, as well as a quantity of break-in instruments. The man was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

BREACH

Cornwall, ON – A 26-year-old Cornwall woman was arrested on July 28th, 2018 and charged with breach of undertaking for being within 100 metres of her girlfriend. It is alleged on July 28th, 2018 the woman was found to be outside her girlfriend’s residence, despite her conditions. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. During the investigation the woman was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. Her name was not released as it would identify the victim in the matter.

THREATS, BREACH

Cornwall, ON – Silas Benedict, 59, of Akwesasne was arrested on July 28th, 2018 and charged with threats and breach of probation for failing to keep the peace. It is alleged on July 16th, 2018 the man threatened to blow up a Montreal Road business and police were contacted to investigate. On July 28th, 2018 the man was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on August 30th, 2018.

BREACH

Cornwall, ON – David Gorrow, 57, of Hogansburg, NY was arrested on July 28th, 2018 and charged with breach of undertaking for being outside his residence after having consumed alcohol. It is alleged the man was found in breach of his conditions when he attended the Port of Entry on July 28th, 2018. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. During the investigation he was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on September 4th, 2018.




ASSAULT, ASSAULT WITH A WEAPON, THREATS

Cornwall, ON – A 29-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on July 28th, 2018 and charged with assault, assault with a weapon and uttering threats. It is alleged during an argument on July 28th, 2018 the man assaulted his girlfriend, made threats to harm her, and further assaulted her using a door. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. During the investigation the man was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on September 11th, 2018. His name was not released as it would identify the victim in the matter.

ASSAULT CAUSE BODILY HARM, ASSAULT WITH A WEAPON, BREAK AND ENTER, POSSESSION OF A WEAPON FOR A DANGEROUS PURPOSE

Cornwall, ON – Todd St. Louis, 37, and Vaughn Bough, 33, both of Cornwall were arrested on July 29th, 2018 and charged as follows:

Todd St. Louis:
• Assault cause bodily harm x 3
• Break and enter
• Assault with a weapon
• Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose

Vaughn Bough:
• Assault cause bodily harm x 3
• Break and enter

It is alleged on July 29th, 2018, the men forced their way into a Walton Street residence and removed multiple electronics from the residence. The men allegedly assaulted 3 men in the residence who were not known to them, causing injuries that required medical attention. One of the men allegedly assaulted the 3 victims while brandishing a knife. Police were contacted and located both of the men a short time later. They were taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

DOMESTIC ASSAULT, MISCHIEF UNDER $5000

Cornwall, ON – A 34-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on July 29th, 2018 and charged with domestic assault and mischief under $5000. It is alleged during an argument on July 29th, 2018 the man assaulted his girlfriend and damaged her cell phone. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. During the investigation, the man was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on September 11th, 2018. His name was not released as it would identify the victim in the matter.

OVER 80

Cornwall, ON – Robert Angell, 25, of Ottawa was arrested on July 29th, 2018 and charged with over 80. It is alleged the man was operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol when he was stopped at the Port of Entry. Police were contacted and took the man into custody. He was charged accordingly and released to appear in court on August 14th, 2018.

There were 140 calls for service in the City of Cornwall in over the weekend (8am Friday to 8am Monday morning).
