#CCPS Arrest LYNDON FAWCETT Handgun from Bar Incident 081318

WEAPONS

Cornwall, ON – As a result of an ongoing investigation, a second person has been arrested in relation to the handgun found at a local bar on August 1st, 2018. (Please see media release from August 3rd, 2018). Lyndon Fawcett, 41, of Cornwall was arrested on August 10th, 2018 and charged with the following:

• Firearm: unauthorized possession
• Firearm: knowledge of unauthorized possession
• Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
• Carry concealed weapon
• Careless use of firearm
• Prohibited firearm: with ammunition
• Firearm: tampering with serial number
• Obstruct peace officer
• Breach of prohibition order (possessing a weapon)

It is alleged on August 1st, 2018 the man was seen with a handgun at a local bar and police were contacted to investigate. On August 10th, 2018 the man attended police headquarters to deal with the matter. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

WARRANT

Cornwall, ON – Rachel Oakes, 29, of Snye, QC was arrested on August 10th, 2018 on the strength of a warrant. It is alleged the woman breached her probation conditions and a warrant was issued for her arrest. On August 10th, 2018, the woman attended police headquarters to deal with the matter. She was taken into custody on the strength of the warrant and held for a bail hearing.

WARRANT, THEFT UNDER $5000, BREACH

Cornwall, ON – Ashley Gagnon, 25 of Cornwall was arrested on August 10th, 2018 on the strength of a warrant. She was also charged with theft under $5000 x 5 and breach of probation x 3 for failing to keep the peace. It is alleged the woman was in breach of her conditional sentence and a warrant was issued for her arrest. It is further alleged the woman attended two Ninth Street stores on between August 6-10, 2018 and removed merchandise, making no attempt to pay for the items as she left the stores. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. The woman was taken into custody on the strength of the warrant on August 10th, 2018. She was charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

THEFT OF MOTOR VEHICLE, THEFT UNDER $5000, BREACH

Cornwall, ON – A 14-year-old Cornwall youth was arrested on August 10th, 2018 and charged with theft of a motor vehicle, theft under $5000, and breach of undertaking for failing to keep the peace. It is alleged on August 8th, 2018, the youth took a vehicle belonging to his friend’s father without permission. The youth also allegedly removed an airsoft gun from his friend’s residence and police were contacted to investigate. On August 10th, 2018, the youth was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. His name was not released as per provision of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

IMPAIRED, OVER 80, BREACH

Cornwall, ON – Harry Benedict, 29, of Cornwall was arrested on August 11th, 2018 and charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle, over 80, as well as breach of probation for consuming alcohol and failing to keep the peace. It is alleged the man was operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol on August 11th, 2018 when he was stopped at the Port of Entry. Police were contacted and took the man into custody. He was charged accordingly and released to appear in court on August 16th, 2018.

THEFT OVER $5000

Cornwall, ON – Kevin Simser, 34, of Cornwall was arrested on August 12th, 2018 and charged with theft over $5000. It is alleged between July 26th, 2018 and August 7th, 2018 the man took a quantity of jewellery and other property from a person known to him without permission. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On August 12th, 2018 the man was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on September 27th, 2018.




THEFT UNDER $5000, BREACH

Cornwall, ON – Scott Taylor, 25, of Cornwall was arrested on August 12th, 2018 and charged with theft under $5000 and breach of probation for attending a Marlborough Street address and failing to keep the peace. He was also charged with breach of peace bond for failing to keep the peace. It is alleged on August 12th, 2018 the man attended a Marlborough Street convenience store, despite his conditions, and removed items, making no attempt to pay for the items as he left the store. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. During the investigation the man was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on September 27th, 2018.

DISOBEY COURT ORDER

Cornwall, ON – A 37-year-old Belleville man was arrested on August 12th, 2018 and charged with breach of court order. It is alleged on July 28th, 2018 the man breached his court order by being within 100 metres of his ex-girlfriend and police were contacted to investigate. On August 12th, 2018, the man was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on September 13th, 2018. His name was not released as it would identify the victim in the matter.

BREACH

Cornwall, ON – A 54-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on August 12th, 2018 and charged with breach of recognizance for contacting and being within 100 metres of his ex-girlfriend, as well as for being within the city of Cornwall. It is alleged on August 12th, 2018 the man was found to be in the company of his ex-girlfriend, despite his conditions. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. During the investigation the man was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. His name was not released as it would identify the victim in the matter.

There were 124 calls for service in the City of Cornwall in over the weekend (8am Friday to 8am Monday morning).
