#CCPS Ottawa Limping Scooter Thief Nabbed – Cornwall POLICE BLOTTER 082018

FAIL TO ATTEND PRINTS, RESIST ARREST, POSSESSION OF SPEED, BREACH

Cornwall, ON – Travis Cook, 36, of Cornwall was arrested on August 17th, 2018 and charged with failing to attend for prints, possession of methamphetamine (speed), resist arrest, breach of undertaking and breach of recognizance for failing to keep the peace. It is alleged the man failed to attend for prints on July 26th, 2018 and an investigation ensued. On August 17th, 2018, police located the man. After a brief struggle he was taken into custody, at which time he was found to be in possession of a quantity of methamphetamine (speed). The man was charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

ASSAULT

Cornwall, ON – A 19-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on August 17th, 2018 and charged with domestic assault. It is alleged on August 17th, 2018 the man assaulted his girlfriend and police were contacted to investigate. During the investigation the man was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on September 11th, 2018. His name was not released as it would identify the victim in the matter.




WARRANT

Cornwall, ON – Eric Gravel, 22, of Cornwall was arrested on August 18th, 2018 on the strength of a warrant. It is alleged the man breached his probation conditions and a warrant was issued for his arrest. On August 18th, 2018, the man was located by police. He was taken into custody on the strength of the warrant and held for a bail hearing.

THEFT UNDER $5000 – STOLEN SCOOTER RECOVERED

Cornwall, ON – On August 18th, 2018, the CCPS released a request for public assistance in identifying a man allegedly involved in a theft of an electronic scooter from a Ninth Street business on August 15th, 2018. With the assistance of the public, police were able to identify the man as Benoit Leclerc, 34, of Ottawa. On August 18th, 2018, police located the man and charged him with theft under $5000. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on September 27th, 2018. The CCPS would like to thank the public for their assistance in helping to identify the man.

DOMESTIC MISCHIEF

Cornwall, ON – A 24-year-old Apple Hill man was arrested on August 19th, 2018 and charged with mischief under $5000. It is alleged on August 19th, 2018, the man drove his truck into his ex-girlfriend’s vehicle, causing damage to her car. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. During the investigation the man was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on September 11th, 2018. His name was not released as it would identify the victim in the matter.

THREATS

Cornwall, ON – A 25-year-old Cornwall woman was arrested on August 19th, 2018 and charged with threats x 2. It is alleged on July 8th, 2018 and August 19th, 2018 the woman made threats to damage her ex-boyfriend’s property and police were contacted to investigate. During the investigation, the woman was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on September 11th, 2018. Her name was not released as it would identify the victim in the matter.

There were 159 calls for service in the City of Cornwall in over the weekend (8am Friday to 8am Monday morning).
