Calls for Service

Kingston Police had 444 calls for service over the weekend of September 14-16, 2018. Of these, 340 calls occurred in the city central area, 68 in the west end, 14 in the east end, and 7 north of Highway 401. Some of these included:

There were 13 individuals arrested over the weekend of September 14-16, 2018 including 11 men and 2 women, between 21 and 48 years of age, for the following: three counts of assault, dangerous driving, flight from police, drive disqualified, break and enter, mischief, fail to remain, two counts of theft, possession of stolen property, possession of ammunition while prohibited, public intoxication, fail to appear in court, breach of peace, breach undertaking, four counts of breach probation. Two persons were arrested on warrants.

Motorcyclist Arrested after Taunting Police and Dangerous Driving

On September 16, 2018 at approximately 12:20 p.m. a patrol officer observed a dirt bike in the distance running red lights, riding into oncoming traffic and popping wheelies as it sped from Gardiners Road onto Creekford Road. Officers began searching the area for the bike and at one point an officer located the bike on Weller Avenue and observed the rider motion for the officer to chase him before speeding off.

Police continued searching for the bike and multiple complaints came from citizens that observed the bike swerving in and out of traffic, onto sidewalks around pedestrians, and popping wheelies for several hundred meters. Later in the afternoon the bike was seen southbound on Highway 15 turning into Greenwood Park. Officers responded to the area and the accused was tracked down at an address on Freeman Crescent where he was found hiding in the house attic.

The accused was arrested and transported to police headquarters where he was held to attend a bail hearing the following day.

The accused was also identified as the rider seen doing wheelies at high rates of speed on September 11 on Gore Road and again on September 15 on Gore Road and Fieldstone Crescent.

A 27-year-old man was charged with dangerous driving, flight from police, and drive disqualified.

The dirt bike was impounded.




Citizen Finds Furniture Thrown Around and Stranger in Bathroom

On September 16, 2018 at approximately 1:00 a.m. the complainant returned home and upon entering his residence he discovered furniture had been tossed around. The complainant could hear water running in the bathroom. As he approached the bathroom he yelled out and a male voice responded. The complainant went outside and called police. Responding officers spoke with the complainant and then entered the residence to find the accused now in the kitchen going through the fridge.

As officers inspected the residence they discovered the accused had broken in through a basement window. They also found water all over the bathroom floor and furniture piled in the bathtub.

The accused was arrested and transported to police headquarters where he was held to attend a bail hearing the following day.

A 33-year-old local man is charged with break and enter, mischief, and breach probation.

Brockville Man Arrested after Failing to Remain at Collision in Kingston

On August 3, 2018 at approximately 12:15 a.m. Kingston Police, Kingston Fire, and Frontenac Paramedics responded to a serious motor vehicle collision at Queen Street and Sydenham Street. On arrival officers learned the two male parties from the Jeep Cherokee had fled on foot immediately after the collision. An investigation revealed the suspects in the Cherokee were traveling southbound on Sydenham Street and ran a red light at Queen Street. The second vehicle heading westbound on Queen Street was proceeding through a green light when the collision occurred. No injuries were reported, however the Cherokee was destroyed.

An investigation revealed the Cherokee had been sold, however the new owner had not yet transferred the vehicle into his name. The new owner was eventually identified and found to be in custody with Brockville Police. On September 14, Kingston Police attended Brockville Police headquarters and arrested the accused. The accused was transported to Kingston Police headquarters where he was held to attend a bail hearing the following day.

A 23-year-old Brockville man was charged with fail to remain.

Two Men Arrested for Domestic Assaults over Weekend

Over the weekend of September 14-16, 2018 police responded to 15 domestic disturbance calls and as a result, two men have been arrested and charged.

On September 16, 2018 at approximately 7:30 p.m. officers responded to a domestic disturbance at mid-town address. On arrival officers found both parties on the front lawn and a large mess of clothing and camping gear on strewn across the driveway.

Officers learned that during the drive back from a camping trip the two began arguing and while the victim was driving, the accused smashed the victims head against the car window. Further investigation revealed a previous unreported incident. On September 4, 2018 the victim attempted to leave the accused residence after an argument. The accused pushed her to the ground, kneed her in the groin, and as she was leaving he shoved her in the back.

The accused was arrested and transported to police headquarters where he was held to attend a bail hearing the following day. A 30-year-old local man is charged with two counts of assault.

On September 16, 2018 at approximately 10:45 p.m. officers responded to a domestic disturbance north of the City. On arrival officers could hear a male yelling inside and located the female victim in a bedroom with visible injuries.

The male was arrested and transported to police headquarters where he was held to attend a bail hearing the following day.

A 46-year-old Seeley’s Bay man is charged with assault.

Woman Wanted For Arson

On June 1, 2018, at approximately 1:00 a.m. the complainant was approached by a woman while he was stopped in traffic near the intersection of Coleman Street and West Moira Street in Belleville. The woman asked if he could drive her to Kingston. He agreed, and they travelled to Kingston along Highway 2.

At approximately 3:30 a.m. upon arriving in Kingston, the woman asked to be dropped off on Queen Street, just East of Division Street. As she exited the vehicle, the woman tossed a piece of material in the rear seat that suddenly caused the car to become engulfed in flames. She was last seen walking westbound on Queen Street.
