Nobody should be surprised as predictions of this storm have started mid week, but it’s starting to blow and it’s a rare mix of very cold temperatures and heavy snowfall with as many as 30cm predicted in some regions of Eastern Ontario.
Here in Downtown Cornwall it’s -22c at CFN Headquarters as of 3:34 PM. We’re expecting nearly 20cm of snow before 7AM Sunday with more coming during the day.
Sunday we expect a high of only -13 with as much as 20 more cm of snow and mixed precip.
With freezing temperatures some of the white stuff may be freezing pellets and the grounds will freeze hard.
Please use extreme caution when driving or even walking and please give extra attention to your pets needs.
If you know a senior or person who’s alone check on them and prepare for possible power outages due to the extreme weather which should let up by Monday.

A period of very cold wind chills is expected.
An arctic air mass will move farther into Southern Ontario tonight. Wind chill values are expected to fall to near minus 35 overnight tonight through Monday night.
Conditions will improve by Tuesday when a milder airmass moves in.
Risks are greater for young children, older adults, people with chronic illnesses, people working or exercising outdoors, and those without proper shelter.
Cover up. Frostbite can develop within minutes on exposed skin, especially with wind chill.
If it’s too cold for you to stay outside, it’s too cold for your pet to stay outside.
