Cornwall Police Disclose 261 Calls for Service Over Canada Day Weekend 2019 #CCPS #CPS

DOMESTIC BREACH

Cornwall, ON – A 63-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on June 28th, 2019 and charged with breach of undertaking for contacting and being within 10 metres of his ex-girlfriend, as well as being within 100 metres of her residence. It is alleged the man breached his conditions on June 2nd, 2019 and police were contacted to investigate. On June 28th, 2019, he was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. His name was not released as it would identify the victim in the matter.

ASSAULT

Cornwall, ON – John Ladouceur, 57, of Ottawa was arrested on June 28th, 2019 and charged with assault. It is alleged during an argument with a man known to him, Ladouceur assaulted the man and police were contacted. During the investigation, he was taken into custody, charged accordingly, and released to appear in court on July 30th, 2019.

DOMESTIC BREACH

Cornwall, ON – A 42-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on June 28th, 2019 and charged with breach of recognizance for contacting and being within 100 metres of his girlfriend and failing to keep the peace. It is alleged the man was in the company of his girlfriend on June 28th, 2019, despite his conditions, and police were contacted. During the investigation, he was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on July 30th, 2019. His name was not released as it would identify the victim in the matter.

IMPAIRED, OVER 80

Cornwall, ON – David St. Pierre-Therrien, 19, of Cornwall was arrested on June 29th, 2019 and charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle and over 80. It is alleged the man was operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol when he was stopped at the Port of Entry. Police were contacted and took the man into custody. He was charged accordingly and released to appear in court on July 11th, 2019.

DOMESTIC BREACH

Cornwall, ON – A 22-year-old South Dundas woman was arrested on June 28th, 2019 and charged with breach of recognizance for contacting and being within 100 metres of her boyfriend and failing to keep the peace. It is alleged the woman was in the company of her boyfriend on June 28th, 2019, despite her conditions, and police were contacted. During the investigation, she was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on July 30th, 2019. Her name was not released as it would identify the victim in the matter.

BREACH

Cornwall, ON – A 13-year-old Cornwall youth was arrested on June 30th, 2019 and charged with breach of undertaking for failing to abide by a curfew and failing to abide by house rules. It is alleged the youth breached his conditions and police were contacted to investigate. On June 30th, 2019 he was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. His name was not released as per provision of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

WEAPONS

Cornwall, ON – Zachary McKinnon, 28, and Marcus Vezina, 28, both of Cornwall, were arrested on July 1st, 2019 and charged with the following:

Zachary McKinnon:
• Trafficking in firearms, weapons, prohibited device or ammunition
• Possession of a firearm obtained by crime
• Possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm x 4
• Unauthorized possession of a firearm x 2
• Careless storage of firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition
• Conspiracy to commit indictable offence (theft of firearms)
• Theft over $5000
• Breach of probation x 5 (for possessing or consuming drugs, possessing weapons, and failing to keep the peace)
• Resist arrest

Marcus Vezina:
• Trafficking in firearms, weapons, prohibited device or ammunition
• Possession of a firearm obtained by crime
• Possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm x 4
• Unauthorized possession of a firearm x 2
• Careless storage of firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition x 2
• Conspiracy to commit indictable offence (theft of firearms)
• Occupant of a motor vehicle knowing it contained prohibited or restricted weapons

The men had allegedly conspired and had stolen a number of firearms belonging to a man known to Zachary McKinnon. During the course of the investigation, police conducted a traffic stop in the area of Race Street and located Marcus Vezina in possession of six stolen firearms. The CPS seized two shotguns and four handguns, as well as ammunition. Prior to the traffic stop, Zachary McKinnon was located by police in breach of his conditions as a result of consuming drugs and being in possession of a BB gun. During the investigation, both men were taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

THREATS, ASSAULT POLICE, BREACH

Cornwall, ON – Valerie Lapierre-Champagne, 31, of Cornwall was arrested on July 1st, 2019 and charged with threats, assault police, and breach of undertaking for failing to keep the peace. Police were called to respond to an unwanted intoxicated woman outside of a Pitt Street establishment on July 1st, 2019. During the investigation, the woman assaulted a police officer, as well as made threats to harm him. She was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

POSSESSION OF A WEAPON FOR A DANGEROUS PURPOSE, CARRY A CONCEALED WEAPON

Cornwall, ON – Kevin Sicard, 36, of Niagara on the Lake, was arrested on July 2nd, 2019 and charged with being in possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and carrying a concealed weapon. It is alleged during the early morning hours on July 2nd, police conducted a traffic stop and found the man to be in possession of a concealed knife. He was taken into custody during the investigation, charged accordingly, and released to appear in court on July 25th, 2019.

DOMESTIC BREACH

Cornwall, ON – A 37-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on July 2nd, 2019 and charged with breach of undertaking for contacting his girlfriend. It is alleged the man attended his girlfriend’s residence, despite his conditions, and an investigation ensued. During the investigation, he was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. His name was not released as it would identify the victim in the matter.

There were 231 calls for service in the City of Cornwall in over the long weekend (8am Friday to 8am Tuesday morning).
