HAWKESBURY OPP INVESTIGATE ASSAULT INCIDENT

Search Warrants executed

(ALFRED, ON) – On Friday July 5, 2019, at approximately 9:00 p.m., members of the Hawkesbury Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to an assault incident at a residence in Alfred, Ontario.

OPP officers and the Prescott-Russell Paramedic Service located a 28-year-old male in front of his residence, with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. He was transported to hospital.

The investigation revealed that four people attended the victim’s residence, where two assaulted the victim and then fled the scene in a vehicle.

On Saturday July 6, 2019, the Hawkesbury and SD&G OPP Crime Unit, with the assistance of the Cornwall Police Service, executed Search Warrants at two residences in Cornwall, Ontario, resulting in the arrest of four suspects.

Shane RIOPELLE, 38-years-old and Luc CAYEN, 51-years-old both of Cornwall, Ontario have been charged under the Criminal Code of Canada with Aggravated Assault. RIOPELLE was also charged with Fail to Comply with Recognizance.

These accused will remain in custody until a scheduled court appearance.

Taylor BARKHOUSE, 27-years-old and Kimberley FRIEND, 49-years-old, both of Cornwall have been charged under the Criminal Code of Canada with:

– Aggravated Assault

– Accessory after the fact to commit an offence

These accused were released and are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice located in L’Orignal on August 7, 2019.
