MISCHIEF UNDER $5000, ASSAULT TO RESIST ARREST

Cornwall, ON – A 15-year-old Cornwall youth was arrested on August 22nd, 2019 and charged with mischief under $5000 and assault to resist arrest. It is alleged during an altercation with his family, the youth damaged various items in his residence, including a railing. Police were contacted and took the youth into custody after a brief struggle. He was charged accordingly and released to appear in court at a later date. His name was not released as per provision of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

WARRANTS

Cornwall, ON – A 58-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on August 22nd, 2019 on the strength of a warrant. It is alleged the man repeatedly contacted and attended his ex-girlfriend’s residence, despite his conditions, and warrants were issued for his arrest. On August 22nd, 2019, the man was taken into custody on the strength of the warrant and held for a bail hearing. His name was not released as it would identify the victim in the matter.

THEFT UNDER $5000, BREACH

Cornwall, ON – Steven Coleman, 35, of Cornwall was arrested on August 22nd, 2019 and charged with theft under $5000 and breach of probation for failing to keep the peace. It is alleged on August 19th, 2019, the man took a quantity of cash from a woman known to him, without her permission, and police were contacted to investigate. On August 22nd, 2019 the man was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on September 12th, 2019.

FRAUD UNDER $5000 X 2, BREACH

Cornwall, ON – Christopher Motard, 40, of Cornwall was arrested on August 22nd, 2019 and charged with two counts of fraud under $5000, as well as three counts of breach of recognizance for failing to abide by a curfew, failing to reside at a certain address, and failing to notify a change of address to police. It is alleged the man defrauded a Brookdale Avenue business on two occasions, by altering amounts payable on a cheque and police were contacted to investigate. During the investigation, it was learned the man had changed his address and failed to notify police. On August 22nd, 2019, a member of the Cornwall Police Service attended the courthouse as the man was in custody on an unrelated matter. He was charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

WARRANTS

Cornwall, ON – Dustin Beddingfield, 29, of Cornwall was arrested on August 22nd, 2019 on the strength of multiple warrants. It is alleged the man failed to attend court in March and May for offences including fraud under $5000 and failing to appear for prints. The man also breached his recognizance and warrants were issued for his arrest. On August 22nd, 2019 the man attended police headquarters to deal with the matter. He was taken into custody on the strength of the warrants and held for a bail hearing.

WARRANT

Cornwall, ON – Brian Kirkey, 60, of Cornwall was arrested on August 22nd, 2019 on the strength of a warrant. It is alleged the man breached his recognizance by failing to reside at a certain address and failing to notify a change of address and a warrant was subsequently issued for his arrest. On August 22nd, 2019, he was taken into custody on the strength of the warrant and held for a bail hearing.

THEFT UNDER $5000

Cornwall, ON – Shawna Mitchell, 40, and Maurice Emond, 74, both of Cornwall, were arrested on August 22nd, 2019 and charged with theft under $5000. It is alleged the individuals attended a Ninth Street business and removed merchandise, making no attempt to pay for the items as they left the store. Police were contacted and took them into custody. They were charged accordingly and released to appear in court on September 26th, 2019.

OVER 80

Cornwall, ON – Matthew Martin, 21, of Cornwall was arrested on August 23rd, 2019 and charged with over 80. It is alleged during the early morning hours, the man was operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol in the area of York Street and Second Street West. During the investigation, the man was taken into custody, charged accordingly, and released to appear in court on September 10th, 2019.
