SD&G OPP NEWS

(STORMONT, DUNDAS & GLENGARRY, ON) – The SD&G Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are investigating several incidents after responding to 292 calls for service from Thursday September 26, 2019 to Monday September 30, 2019.

Among these occurrences, SD&G OPP responded to:

–             15 motor vehicle collisions

–             13 calls for Police assistance

–             25- 911 calls

–             30 traffic complaints

–             8 traffic hazards

–             6 traffic enforcement occurrences

–             6 Domestic disputes

–             7 thefts

–             7 suspicious activity calls

–              4 family disputes            

–              3 assault calls

–             4 mental health calls

–             2 community service calls

–             7 alarms

–             2 landlord tenant disputes

–             2 animal complaints

–             1 threat call

–             2 fraud calls

–             4 mischief calls

–             1 sudden death investigation

–             2 fire calls

–             6 keep the peace calls

–             1 noise complaint

BREACH OF CONDITIONS

(NORTH DUNDAS, ON) – On September 26, 2019 at approximately 11:04am, Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry Ontario Provincial Police officers responded to a family dispute in Chesterville, Ontario. Investigation revealed that a youth was breaching previous release conditions

The 16-year-old of North Dundas, Ontario was arrested and is charged with:

– Fail to comply with conditions of a probation order

The accused was held in custody (bail) and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice.

The name of the accused is being withheld in accordance with the Youth Criminal Justice Act (YCJA).

IMPAIRED DRIVER

(NORTH STORMONT, ON) – On September 26, 2019 at approximately 9:06pm, Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry (SD&G) Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers responded to a single vehicle collision on Elm Road in North Stormont Township.

Investigation revealed that the adult driver was under the influence of alcohol.

Luc MEILLEUR ( age 26) of Cornwall, Ontario was arrested and is charged with:

– Drive a Motor Vehicle with over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol in blood

– Drive a Motor Vehicle while Impaired

The accused was released and is scheduled to appear at Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall October 24, 2019.

ASSAULT – DOMESTIC

(NORTH GLENGARRY, ON) – On September 28, 2019 at approximately 9:20am, Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry Ontario Provincial Police officers responded to a report of domestic situation in North Glengarry Township. Investigation revealed that an adult accused had assaulted an adult victim.

A 28-year-old accused of North Glengarry, Ontario was arrested and is charged with:

– Assault

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall on October 29, 2019.

EXCESSIVE SPEEDS

(SD&G) – On September 26-27, 2019, Ontario Provincial Police officers conducted speed measuring enforcement in SD&G and intercepted the following vehicles for traveling at excessive speeds. The drivers were charged with Stunt Driving (Highway Traffic Act), their driver’s permits seized for seven days (7 days) and the vehicles were impounded in accordance to policy.

– September 26, 2019- 7:37pm (South Glengarry) vehicle stopped traveling 148km/h (80km/h zone) (County Road 20) 23 year-old driver from North Glengarry, Ontario.

– September 27, 2019- 8:37pm (South Glengarry) vehicle stopped traveling 164km/h (100km/h zone) (Highway 401) 46 year-old driver from Ontario.
