Drug Warrant Yields Less Than $4K in Drugs in Cornwall Ontario POLICE BLOTTER #CPS 111519

WARRANT

Cornwall, ON – William Stacey, 36, of Akwesasne was arrested on November 14th, 2019 on the strength of a warrant. It is alleged on September 22nd, 2019, the man was operating a motor vehicle in a dangerous manner in the area of the port of entry. Police were contacted and a warrant was subsequently issued for his arrest. On November 14th, 2019, a member of the Cornwall Police Service attended the courthouse as the man was in custody on an unrelated matter. The warrant was executed and he remained in custody for a bail hearing.

BREACH

Cornwall, ON – A 15-year-old Cornwall youth was arrested on November 14th, 2019 and charged with breach of undertaking for failing to abstain from the consumption of alcohol. It is alleged the youth was located by police while intoxicated on November 14th and an investigation ensued. During the investigation, she was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court at a later date. Her name was not released as per provision of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

DRUG WARRANT

Cornwall, ON – On the morning of November 15th, 2019, members of the Cornwall Police Service (CPS) Street Crime Unit, Criminal Investigation Division, and Cornwall Emergency Response Team executed a drug warrant at a Montreal Road residence. As a result of the investigation, two men were taken into custody.

There were 53 calls for service in the City of Cornwall in the last 24 hours (8:00 am yesterday to 8:00 am this morning).

MONTREAL ROAD DRUG WARRANT – NOVEMBER 15TH, 2019

Cornwall, ON – On the morning of November 15th, 2019, members of the Cornwall Police Service (CPS) Street Crime Unit, Criminal Investigation Division, and Cornwall Emergency Response Team executed a drug warrant at a Montreal Road residence. As a result of the investigation, two men were taken into custody.

A quantity of drugs, including cocaine, heroin, methamphetamine (speed), and crystal methamphetamine were located during the search. Additionally, several pellet guns, a flare gun, a knife, and bear spray were located, as well as a quantity of Canadian currency.

The combined street value of the drugs and currency is estimated to be approximately $3500.00.

“The investigative efforts of our Street Crime Unit have successfully prevented these illicit drugs from being distributed within our community,” said Inspector Chad Maxwell of the Field Operations Division. “Our Criminal Investigation Division will continue to work with members of the community to combat drug trafficking within the city of Cornwall and strive towards removing these dangerous substances from our streets.”

The men were charged as follows:

Peter Garlough, 39, of Cornwall:

• Possession for the purpose of trafficking methamphetamine
• Possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine
• Possession for the purpose of trafficking crystal methamphetamine
• Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose x 5
• Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000

Steven Marsolais, 34, of Cornwall:

• Possession for the purpose of trafficking methamphetamine
• Possession for the purpose of trafficking heroin
• Possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine
• Possession for the purpose of trafficking crystal methamphetamine
• Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose x 7
• Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000
• Carrying concealed weapon
• Breach of prohibition order
• Breach of recognizance x 3 (for failing to abide by curfew, being outside his residence after consuming alcohol and weapons)

Both men were taken into custody during the investigation, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.
