Cornwall Ontario Police Blotter for January 9, 2019 #CPS

WARRANT

Cornwall, ON – A 20-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on January 8th, 2020 on the strength of a warrant. It is alleged the man failed to attend court on June 13th, 2019 for a sexual assault offence and a warrant was issued for his arrest. On January 8th, 2020, the man attended police headquarters to deal with the matter. He was taken into custody on the strength of the warrants and held for a bail hearing. His name was not released as it would identify the victim in the matter.

THEFT OVER $5000, BREACH

Cornwall, ON – Matthew Burnside, 28, of Brockville was arrested on January 8th, 2020 and charged with the following:

• Theft over $5000
• Breach of probation (for failing to keep the peace)
• Breach of recognizance x 2 ( for failing to remain in his residence and reside at a certain address)
• Breach of undertaking (for failing to notify a change of address to police)

It is alleged on December 2nd, 2020, the man took a cargo truck that did not belong to him and failed to return the truck to the owner. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued, where it was learned the man had changed his address without notifying police. On January 8th, 2020 he was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

WARRANT

Cornwall, ON – Nicole Swift, 28, of Cornwall was arrested on January 8th, 2020 on the strength of a warrant. It is alleged on November 14th, 2019, the woman breached her conditions, as well as on November 28th, 2019, failed to attend court for a theft offence. An investigation ensued and warrants were issued for her arrest. On January 8th, 2020 she was taken into custody on the strength of the warrants and held for a bail hearing.

WARRANT

Cornwall, ON – Preslie-Anne Walker, 26, of Brockville was arrested on January 8th, 2020 on the strength of a warrant. It is alleged the woman failed to attend court on January 7th, 2020 for a theft charge and a warrant was issued for her arrest. On January 8th, 2020, the woman attended police headquarters to deal with the matter. She was taken into custody on the strength of the warrant and released to appear in court on February 20th, 2020.

SHOPLIFTING, BREACH

Cornwall, ON – Justin Rainey, 30, of Cornwall was arrested on January 8th, 2020 and charged with theft under $5000, as well as breach of probation for failing to keep the peace. It is alleged on January 8th, the man attended a Second Street business and removed merchandise, making no attempt to pay for the items as he left the store. He was stopped by a Loss Prevention Officer and police were contacted. During the investigation he was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on February 13th, 2020.

There were 55 calls for service in the City of Cornwall over the last 24 hours (8:00 am yesterday to 8:00 am today).
