SD&G OPP NEWS

(STORMONT DUNDAS & GLENGARRY, ON) – The SD&G Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are investigating several incidents after responding to 222 calls for service from Thursday January 23, 2020 to Monday January 27, 2020.

Among these occurrences, SD&G OPP responded to:

–     43 motor vehicle collisions

–     20 calls for Police assistances

–     8- 911 calls

–   19 traffic complaints

-7 traffic hazards

–    5 Traffic enforcement occurrences

–    5 Domestic disputes

–   5 thefts

–   4 suspicious activity calls

–   3 family disputes           

– 3 mental health calls

– 4 alarms

– 1 Assault call

– 1 threat call

– 10 Fraud calls

– 2 Mischief calls

– 5 neighbour disputes

–  5 RIDE Checks

– 2 Break and enter calls

– 1 sudden death investigation

– 1 weapon call

– 3 Animal complaints

– 2 harassment calls

EXCESSIVE SPEEDS

(SD&G) – On January 23-26, 2020 Ontario Provincial Police officers conducted speed measuring enforcement in SD&G and intercepted several vehicles for traveling at excessive speeds. The vehicles were impounded and their driver’s permits seized for seven (7) days in accordance to policy and were charged with Stunt Driving (Highway Traffic Act).

– January 23, 2020 at 11:20 a.m (South Dundas) a vehicle was stopped traveling 153km/h (100km/h zone) (Highway 401) – 26-year-old driver from Guelph, Ontario.

– January 26, 2020 at 3:45 p.m (South Glengarry) a vehicle was stopped traveling 160km/h (100km/h zone) (Highway 401) – 21-year-old driver from Ontario.

DISTURBANCE LEADS TO CHARGES

(NORTH STORMONT,ON) – On January 24, 2020 at approximately 6:25 p.m, Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry Ontario Provincial Police officers responded to a report of a disturbance at a residence on Valley Street, North Stormont Township.

Investigation indicated that an accused had entered the home unlawfully. 

Beau WATKINS (age 18) of North Stormont, Ontario was arrested and is charged with;

– Unlawfully in a dwelling house

He was released from custody pending a court appearance at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall on February 25, 2020.
