TRAFFIC STOP LEADS TO DRUGS SEIZED

Over 50 Kilograms seized

(SOUTH GLENGARRY, ON) On March 16, 2020 at 2:24 p. m, members of the Stormont Dundas &Glengarry OPP with the assistance of the OPP Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) conducted a traffic stop on Highway 401 in South Glengarry Township. This resulted in the seizure of a large quantity of drugs (suspected cocaine) and Canadian currency. The estimated street value of drugs seized is $4.2 million.

Ellis SALGADO MINAYA, age 19 of Montreal, Quebec was arrested and charged with;

– Possession of a controlled substance for purpose of trafficking – cocaine

The accused was held in custody (bail) and is scheduled to appear Ontario court of justice in Cornwall.

Acting CSCU Detective Staff Sergeant Dean Canham states ” This arrest will have a significant impact within our communities and we recognize the trafficking of illegal drugs has a serious impact on community safety.”

STOLEN ATV

(NORTH DUNDAS,ON) – On March 17, 2020 at approximately 8:51 a.m, Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry (SD&G) Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a theft of an ATV from a residence on County Road 5, North Dundas Township. Investigation indicated that sometime overnight March 16-17, 2020 a 2018 Black and white Kawasaki Teryx side by side with Ontario Licence Plate (3LT58) was removed from the property. EXCESSIVE SPEEDS

(SD&G) – On March 16, 2020 Ontario Provincial Police officers conducted speed measuring enforcement in SD&G and intercepted the following vehicle for traveling at excessive speeds. The vehicle was impounded and their driver’s permit seized for seven (7) days in accordance to policy and was charged with Stunt Driving (Highway Traffic Act).

– March 16, 2020- 9:59pm (Cornwall) vehicle stopped traveling 127km/h (70km/h zone) (Cornwall Centre Road) – 19-year-old driver from Cornwall, Ontario.
