Cornwall Couple Charged With Choking Each Other as Crime RISES During COVID 19 Pandemic POLICE BLOTTER 041420 #CPS

BREACH

Cornwall, ON – A 34-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on April 9th, 2020 and charged with breach of undertaking for communicating with his ex-girlfriend. It is alleged the man communicated with his ex-girlfriend on two occasions and police were contacted to investigate. On April 9th, 2020 the man attended police headquarters to deal with the matter. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on June 11th, 2020. His name was not released as it would identify the victim in the matter.

DRIVE WHILE PROHIBITED

Cornwall, ON – Edward Ayoub, 43 of Cornwall was arrested on April 9th, 2020 and charged with three counts of drive while prohibited. It is alleged on April 9th, 2020 the man was found to be operating a motor vehicle in the area of Vincent Massey Drive while being prohibited from doing so. He was taken into custody during a traffic stop, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on June 25th, 2020.

WARRANT

Cornwall, ON – Jules Leroux, 25 was arrested on April 9th, 2020 on the strength of a warrant. It is alleged a warrant was issued for his arrest in relation to a theft under $5000 that would have occurred in 2017. On April 9th, 2020 the man was located during a traffic stop, taken into custody on the strength of the warrant and released to appear in court on June 25th, 2020.

BREACH, THEFT UNDER

A 17-year-old Cornwall youth was arrested on April 10th, 2020 and charged with breach of undertaking for being outside his residence and breach of probation for failing to keep the peace. It is alleged on April 9th, 2020 an officer attended the youth’s residence for a compliance check and found the youth was in breach of his conditions. It is also alleged the youth had taken someone’s cellphone without permission. In the early morning hours of April 10th, 2020 the youth was located by police. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court at a later date. His name was not released as per provision of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

ASSAUT, OVERCOME RESISTANCE

Cornwall, ON – A 45-year-ols woman and a 48-year-old man both from Cornwall were arrested on April 10th, 2020 and charged with assault and overcome resistance (choking). It is alleged during and argument on April 10th, 2020 both assaulted each other and choked each other. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. Both were taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on June 30th, 2020. Their names were not released as it would also identify them as victims.

WARRANT

Cornwall, ON – Ronald Regnier, 48 of Cornwall was arrested on April 10th, 2020 on the strength of a warrant. It is alleged on October 23rd, 2019 the man removed property from a Ninth Street business making no attempt to pay for the items as he left the store. Police were contacted to investigate and during the investigation a warrant was issued for his arrest. He was located on April 10th, 2020, taken into custody on the strength of the warrant and released to appear in court at a later date.

MISCHIEF, BREACH

Cornwall, ON – A 25-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on April 12th, 2020 and charged with mischief and breach of undertaking for failing to notify a change of address. It is alleged during an argument on April 12th, 2020 the man damaged his ex-girlfriend’s door and police were contacted to investigated. The man was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. His name was not released as it would identify the victim in the matter.

ROBBERY, MISCHIEF

Cornwall, ON – Cameron Timms, 21 of Cornwall was arrested on April 12th, 2020 and charged with robbery and mischief. It is alleged on April 12th, 2020 the man damaged a door at a Walton Street residence and removed property from a resident at that address. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. The man was taken into custody during the investigation, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on June 25th, 2020.

IMPAIRED OPERATION OF A MOTOR VEHICLE, POSSESSION OF A CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE, BREACH

Cornwall, ON – Mathieu Lamarche, 37 of Cornwall was arrested on April 12th, 2020 and charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle, possession of a controlled substance and breach of probation for failing to keep the peace. It is alleged on April 12th, 2020 the man was found to be operating a motor vehicle in the area of Lemay Street while under the influence of a drugs. He was taken into custody during a traffic stop and found to be in possession of a controlled substance. He was charged accordingly and released to appear in court on June 25th, 2020.

RESIST ARREST, BREACH

Cornwall, ON – A 21-year-old Cornwall woman was arrested on April 13th, 2020 and charged with breach of probation for being with someone she has conditions not to associate with and for failing to keep the peace. It is alleged on April 13th, 2020 the woman was in breach of her conditions when she attended a specific residence despite her conditions. Police were contacted and took the woman into custody after a brief struggle. She was charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. Her name was not released as the conditions stem from a domestic incident and would identify the victim in the matter.

BREAK AND ENTER, BREAK AND ENTER WITH INTENT TO STEAL A FIREARM, UNAUTHORISED POSSESSION OF A FIREARM, POSSESSION OF A FIREARM OBTAINED BY CRIME

Cornwall, ON – Blaze Oakes, 25 of Hogansberg, NY was arrested on April 13th, 2020 and charged with the following:

• Break and enter
• Break and enter with intent to steal a firearm
• Unauthorised possession of a firearm
• Possession of a firearm obtained by crime

It is alleged on April 12th, 2020 the man forced his was into a local business and removed a hand gun. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On April 13th, 2020 the man was stopped at the Port of Entry for an unrelated matter and police were contacted to investigate. During the investigation the man was taken into custody for the break and enter, charged accordingly and held for bail hearing. The handgun was later recovered during the ongoing investigation.

ASSAULT, BREACH

Cornwall, ON – Kristen Hewitt, 26 of Cornwall was arrested on April 13th, 2020 and charged with assault and breach of a peace bond for failing to keep the peace. It is alleged during a disagreement with a man at a local convenience store/gas station on March 25th, 2020 the woman struck him and spit on him. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On April 13th, 2020 the woman was located by police, taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on June 30th, 2020.

WARRANT

Cornwall, ON – Chase Burelle-Menard, 21 of Cornwall was arrested on April 13th, 2020 on the strength of a warrant. It is alleged the man failed to re-attend court on October 22nd, 2019 for a mischief charge and a warrant was issued for his arrest. The man was located on April 13th, 2020, taken into custody on the strength of the warrant and held for a bail hearing.

CARE AND CONTROL OF A MOTOR VEHICLE, OPERATE MOTOR VEHICLE WHILE PROHIBITED, BREACH

Cornwall, ON – Christopher Benedict, 40 of Cornwall was arrested on April 13th, 2020 and charged with care and control of a motor vehicle, operate motor vehicle while prohibited X 9 and breach of probation for failing to keep the peace. It is alleged on April 13th, 2020 the man was found to be in care and control of a motor vehicle in the area of the Civic Complex while under the influence of a drugs. He was taken into custody during a traffic stop, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on June 25th, 2020.

There were 219 calls for service in the City of Cornwall in over the Easter long weekend (8am Thursday to 8am Tuesday morning).
