SD&G #OPP Round Up for the Week of April 6 to April 14, 2020

SD&G OPP NEWS

(STORMONT DUNDAS & GLENGARRY, ON) – The SD&G Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are investigating several incidents after responding to 340 calls for service from Monday April 6, 2020 to Tuesday April 14, 2020

Among these occurrences, SD&G OPP responded to:

DOMESTIC – MISCHIEF

(NORTH DUNDAS,ON) – On April 6, 2020 at approximately 8:06 a.m Stormont Dundas & Glengarry Ontario Provincial Police officers responded to a report of domestic situation in North Dundas Township. Investigation revealed that an adult accused had caused damage to the residence and was breaching previous release conditions.

A 38-year-old accused of North Dundas, Ontario was arrested and is charged with;

– Mischief

– Fail to comply with conditions of a probation order

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall on June 23, 2020.

ASSAULT – DOMESTIC

(NORTH DUNDAS,ON) – On April 8, 2020 at approximately 8:00 a.m Stormont Dundas & Glengarry Ontario Provincial Police officers responded to a report of domestic situation in North Dundas Township. Investigation revealed that an adult accused had assaulted the victim multiple times on this date and previous dates.

A 46-year-old accused of North Dundas, Ontario was arrested and is charged with;

– Assault

– Assault with a weapon

– Assault cause bodily harm- choke, strangle or suffocate ( two counts)

– Assault causing bodily harm

– Forcible confinement

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall on June 23, 2020.

BREAK IN

(SOUTH DUNDAS,ON) On April 8, 2020 at approximately 1:50 p.m Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry Ontario Provincial Police officers responded to a report of a break in at a residence County Road 11 in South Dundas Township. The same residence was broken into the week (April 4th 2020) before with unknown culprit(s) attending the residence and removing several tools and power tools. On this date nothing was taken. On April 13, 2020 the same residence had another attempted break in, with the culprit(s) unable to gain access.

An Investigation continues.

ASSAULT PEACE OFFICER

(NORTH GLENGARRY,ON) – On April 9, 2020 at approximately 7:20 p.m, Stormont, Dundas &Glengarry Ontario Provincial Police officers responded to a report of a suspicious person inside a business on County Road 20, North Glengarry Township. Investigation indicated that an unwanted adult was in the business being aggressive with staff. The adult was located a short distance away. Once in custody the accused assaulted an officer.

Melissa POWERS (33) from Smiths Falls, Ontario was arrested and is charged with;

– Assault a Peace officer

– Being intoxicated in a public place (Liquor Licence Act)

– Engage in prohibited activity on premises (Trespass to property Act)

The accused was released from custody pending a court appearance at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall on June 25, 2020.

(SOUTH STORMONT,ON) – On April 9, 2020 at approximately 10:38 p.m Stormont Dundas & Glengarry Ontario Provincial Police officers responded to a report of domestic situation in South Stormont Township. Investigation revealed that an adult accused had caused damage to the residence and was breaching previous release conditions.

A 37-year-old accused of South Stormont, Ontario was arrested and is charged with;

– Mischief

– Fail to comply with conditions of a probation order

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall on June 9, 2020.

ASSAULT – DOMESTIC

(NORTH DUNDAS,ON) – On April 10, 2020 at approximately 4:56 p.m Stormont Dundas & Glengarry Ontario Provincial Police officers responded to a report of domestic situation in North Dundas Township. Investigation revealed that an adult accused had assaulted the victim.

A 37-year-old accused of North Dundas, Ontario was arrested and is charged with;

– Assault

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall on June 23, 2020.

STOLEN CAR

(NORTH DUNDAS,ON) – On April11, 2020 at approximately 3:50 p.m, Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry (SD&G) Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a theft of a car from a residence on Joseph Street in Chesterville, Ontario. Investigation indicated that sometime overnight April 11, 2020 a 2006 White Pontiac Grand Prix (plated- Ontario -CEZW 438) was removed from the property.

An investigation continues.

WEAPONS CHARGES LAID 

(SOUTH GLENGARRY,ON) – On April 12, 2020, at approximately 12:13 a.m Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry Ontario Provincial Police officers conducted a traffic stop on Highway 401 in South Glengarry Township.

SD&G OPP officers located the vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed (131km/hr in a posted 100km/hr zone). SD&G OPP officers intercepted the vehicle and arrested the male passenger as he was in breach of previous release conditions and the passenger was also in possession of pepper spray.

Reda KHADIR (19) of Montreal, Quebec was located and arrested and is charged with;

–             Fail to comply with conditions of a undertaking ( three counts)

–             Fail to comply with conditions of a probation order ( two counts)

–             Concealed prohibited device or ammunition

–             Possess of firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition order

–             Knowledge of unauthorized possession of weapon

The 19 year -old driver of Montreal, Quebec was charged for speeding (Highway Traffic Act)

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to a court appearance at the Ontario Court of Justice in Alexandria July 8, 2020.

STOLEN CAR

(SOUTH STORMONT,ON) – On April 13, 2020 at approximately 11:03 a.m, Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry (SD&G) Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a theft of a car from a residence on Beaver Dam Drive, South Stormont Township. Investigation indicated that sometime overnight April 12-13, 2020, a 2009 Dark blue Chevrolet Impala (plated- Ontario -CHFN 562) was removed from the property.

An investigation continues.

EXCESSIVE SPEEDS

(SD&G) – On April 9th to April 12th , 2020 Ontario Provincial Police officers conducted speed measuring enforcement in SD&G and intercepted the following vehicles for traveling at excessive speeds. The vehicles were impounded and their driver’s permits seized for seven (7) days in accordance to policy and were charged with Stunt Driving (Highway Traffic Act).

– April 9, 2020- 12:14 pm (South Glengarry) vehicle stopped traveling 160km/h (100km/h zone) (Highway 401) – 26-year-old driver from Waterloo Ontario.

– April 1, 2020- 6:36 am (South Dundas) vehicle stopped traveling 163km/h (100km/h zone) (Highway 401) – 24-year-old driver from North York, Ontario. The driver was also suspended.

– April 12, 2020- 7:13 am (South Glengarry) vehicle stopped traveling 160km/h (100km/h zone) (Highway 401) – 26-year-old driver from Quebec.
