Did Cornwall ON Councilor Maurice Dupelle Disclose Filing of CONSUMER PROPOSAL to the City?

JULY 15, 2025 – Long time political hack has filed a Consumer Proposal for over $200,000. 101 of 108 debtors appear to be “pay day” type loans for amounts as small as a few hundred dollars.

Mr. Dupelle according to documents had filed for bankruptcy in 1996.

Calls and emails to City Hall asking if the Councilor disclosed at this point were not answered.

Mr. Dupelle stated in his documents that he cashed in a RRSP for $20000 in December 2024.

The Councilor claims income of $6229.00 monthly with expenses of;

Multiple people at City Hall stated that they had not heard of any disclosure of the councilor who is now on unpaid leave after not showing up for council meetings for several months.

The bigger question, especially if turns out the city knew about his Consumer Proposal was why they simply did not declare his seat vacant instead of giving him unpaid leave? Could it be a favour back to Mayor Justin Towndale for when he went on unpaid leave before being elected mayor?

The City website still shows him sitting on the Police board, as well as the board of the Health Unit and GSDL.

Councilor Dupelle did not return our query to him before publication.
