A bus will be leaving Cornwall on Saturday morning, and it’s destination is for some rock n’ roll in Toronto.
Fathom Ties, consisting of Cornwall and Kingston band members, have advanced to the Paragon $40,000 Band Clash Finals.
The Finals are Saturday June 20th at the Opera House in Toronto. The province wide competition has featured many talented bands, and this speaks volumes about Fathom Ties talent to make it to the finals . This is the third and final round of the competition. The judges are from Uncharted Sound and Universal Music Canada.
The $40,000 prize consists of $20,000 cash, plus another $20,000 in recording studio time, a professional photo shoot, a live video shoot, and other promotional prizes.
The bus to Toronto is sold out, and there is a huge waiting list of fans still trying to find a spot on the bus to Toronto.
This all speaks volumes to the popularity of this local band. Accoring to their website, “Originating in Cornwall Ontario, Fathom Ties was initially created by Nathan Gignac (guitar), Dan Gadbois (drums), Matt Vachon (guitar)”. The band met Cornwall native Justin “Hal” Cote (bass) in Kingston, and later met Jamie Maracle (vocals) in Belleville.
Earlier in June the band held a fundraiser at On Tap for the bus to Toronto, and filled the venue to capacity. Many Cornwall and area music fans are hopeful Fathom Ties will win the big prize on Saturday night.
