Cornwall ON – The Cornwall and District Labour Council is among the local groups that celebrate International Women’s Day annually. For 2011, the council is hosting a breakfast on Saturday, March 5, at the Best Western Inn and Conference Centre.
Natalie Mehra, the Executive Director of the Ontario Health Coalition will deliver the keynote address. The theme of her speech is “The Role of Women In Driving Social Change.” Natalie Mehra is no stranger to Cornwall, having made frequent visits here in the past, in her capacity as advocate and defender of Public healthcare.
Natalie has also served as a board member of human rights, arts, health, advocacy, disability and women’s rights organizations. She served as the executive director of the Epilespy Association in Kingston, Brockville and area. She has extensive experience as a community organizer, committed to building and coordinating democratic citizen’s engagement in issues related to equity, social justice and social solidarity.
Natalie has authored numerous reports, articles and essays on health care, politics and non-profit governance. She sits on the board of directors of the Canadian Health Coalition and has spearheaded several national campaigns to protect and improve public health care for all in Canada.
