Cornwall ON – Residents will have an opportunity to enjoy the outdoor movie experience of years gone by during the first-ever Movie Under the Stars on Saturday, August 20 at the Lion’s Club Bandshell in Lamoureux Park.
This free family event will feature the presentation of the animated hit movie Rio on a 25-foot inflatable screen. The show will start at dusk (approximately 8:30 pm, weather permitting) and seating is on a first-come, first-serve basis, so an early arrival is suggested. Vendors will be on site selling food and drinks, and the Cornwall Civic Complex washrooms will remain open for the duration of the movie.

“This is a great opportunity for families to spend some quality time together while enjoying the outdoors,” said Lorne Taillon, Leisure Arts Coordinator with the City of Cornwall. “We’re hoping for a good turnout for this new summer activity.”
Organizers are reminding movie-goers to dress for the weather and come prepared with a lawn chair or blanket, a flashlight and bug spray. The event is sponsored by the City of Cornwall, the United Way Success By Six program and Rachel’s Kids. The film Rio tells the story of Blu, a domesticated macaw from small-town Minnesota who takes off on an adventure to Rio de Janeiro after meeting Jewel, the bird of his dreams. The film was a hit at the box office, grossing over $482 million worldwide. The movie has a family-friendly “G” Rating.
