Seniors and Children in the EOHU Region Now Eligible for H1N1 Immunization vaccination
As of November 13th, the Eastern Ontario Health Unit is expanding the H1N1 immunization priority groups to include children aged 18 and under, and adults 65 years of age and over.
“We’re still targeting the people on the priority list, however we’re pleased to be able to expand the list to include seniors and children,” explains Dr. Paul Roumeliotis, Medical Officer of Health. “We support the Ministry’s position that when we have enough vaccine, we will broaden our immunization program to the rest of our residents.”
The expanded priority group list now includes:
- people with a chronic condition
- people aged 65 and over
- children 6 months to 18 years of age
- pregnant women (the unadjuvanted vaccine is now available for all pregnant women)
- healthcare workers
- household contacts and care providers of persons at high risk who cannot be immunized or may not respond to vaccines
Please note that due to vaccine availability, the clinics will temporarily not be able to immunize residents outside of the counties of Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry, Prescott-Russell, and the City of Cornwall.
