Debate of False Pandemic (H1 N1) Draws W.H.O. Response – January 13, 2010

There’s been a lot of discussion about Flu pandemics.   We had bird flu, swine flu, and now amidst a lot of discussion after billions of dollars have been spent vaccinating people the World Health Organization (WHO) is entering the discussion.

“the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe said “false pandemics, a threat to health” will be a major theme of its next plenary session, with a debate slated for Jan. 28.

The WHO moved to the top level of its six-step pandemic alert in June after the discovery of swine flu in Mexico and the U.S. in April. The virus has spread to more than 208 countries and overseas territories, the Geneva-based agency said Jan. 8.”

What do you think Cornwall?  Did you get an H1 N1 shot or the regular flu shot, or both?  Do you think this pandemic was more hype than substance?   Post your comments below.

  1. Got the shot, waited 6 hours for it. Not sure if it was hype or fact, but the situation was worrysome. When a virus who has the potential of mutating and who is killing people spreads to 208 countries in a matter of months, I think we can’t be too cautious. I think it was probably a little bit of both caution and paranoia, mixed with an opportunity to make money.

  2. Just hype. So that the government, W.H.O, and Glaxo Smith Kline, can all make a massive potload of money off the backs of the Canadian population and whomever else they can all dupe around the world.

  3. I got the regular flu shot and then the H1N1 flu shot. I’m a reasonably intelligent person and I think that I did the right thing. We hear a lot of negative comments from the chickens but there is no substance to what they are preaching. Someone once said “The biggest fear is fear itself”. We know from history that we need to prepare for the unpredictable. I think the smart ones did!

  4. The reason the Flu did not hit as hard as it could of hit was because the WHO and our Goverments acted correctly and got the Vacine out!! Without the Vacine we would have had a very bad time of it. I thank all the people involved getting the shots out and taking them. You saved alot of suffering!! Good for you!!

  5. What a crock of sXXX, seriously… don’t believe in these shots at all. Have never had one and hope to never have to have one. Know someone who’s wife works at Glaxo (the company that produced the vaccine) and he’s SUPER excited that his wife will get a huge bonus and they’ll get a trip overseas because it sold so well. Hmmmm…. that seems alot more like commission than health care.

  6. Stan, I am sure that you are intelligent but your post is a little passive-aggressive. Your quote could quite easily be applied to those who volunteered to be injected with an untested vaccine filled with chemicals linked to dementia (among other things) to protect themselves from what virologists called a mild pathogen. I respect anyone’s educated choice, but the fact is that there are serious conflicts of interest along the distribution chain and that both the government and health units are far from forthcoming with the public.
If any product were that valuable, it would not require tax funded propoganda to give it away. I know if I gave away my service I would not have to advertise!
