Calls for Service

Kingston Police had 441 calls for service from October 6-9, 2017. Of these, 288 calls occurred in the city central area, 100 in the west end, 16 in the east end, and 12 north of Highway 401. Some of these included:

There were 15 individuals arrested from October 6 to 9, 2017 including 12 men and 3 women, between 21 and 61 years of age, for the following: assault, sexual assault, possession of a controlled drug, operating a vehicle with over 80 mg of alcohol, indecent act, break and enter, public intoxication, and breach probation. Seven persons were arrested on outstanding warrants.

Cyclist Caught With Drugs in Shoe after Running Stop Sign

A 41-year-old local man was caught hiding drugs in his shoe after running a stop sign on his bicycle.

On October 8, 2017 at approximately 2:45 p.m. the accused was riding a bicycle northbound on Kingscourt Avenue. A patrol officer observed the accused fail to stop at a four way stop. When the officer stopped him, the accused jumped of his bicycle and quickly removed something from his pocket and then bent over to put the item in his shoe.

Based on his knowledge of the accused the officer believed he was concealing drugs. The accused claimed he was just tying his shoes, but his shoes did not have laces that tie.

The accused was arrested and during a search the officer located a bag of suspected crystal methamphetamine in the shoe.

The accused was transported to police headquarters where he was held to attend a bail hearing the following day.

The accused was charged with possession of a controlled drug, and breach probation.

Woman Arrested after Attacking Boyfriend

A 30-year-old local woman has been arrested for domestic assault after she attacked her boyfriend when he tried to leave.

On October 9, 2017 at approximately 10:30 p.m. police were called to a west end apartment in relation to a domestic disturbance. The accused had allegedly been drinking and was screaming, out of control and causing damage.

Officers met the victim as he was fleeing with some of his property. The victim reported the accused was breaking his possessions and that she had bit and scratched him while he was trying to leave.

The accused was located at the elevator with two young children. Despite probation conditions not to consume alcohol the accused had been drinking.

The accused was arrested and transported to police headquarters where she was held to attend a bail hearing the following day.

The accused was charged with assault, and two counts of breach probation.

Driver Arrested after Police Check on Passenger Wearing Mask

A 48-year-old local man was arrested when a patrol officer stopped him to check on a passenger wearing a mask.

On October 7, 2017 at approximately 4:30 p.m. a patrol officer observed a female passenger in a vehicle that appeared to be wearing a mask. The officer pulled alongside the vehicle to enquire about the mask. The driver claimed the passenger was wearing the mask for medical reasons, however he was having difficulty speaking and the officer directed him to pull into a parking lot.

A roadside alcohol device was used to test the accused level of alcohol. The accused registered a fail and was subsequently arrested.

The accused was transported to police headquarters where he provided two breath samples. The accused was found to have approximately 1 ¾ times the legal limit of alcohol in his system.

The accused was charged with operating a vehicle with over 80 mg of alcohol.

The accused was later released on a Promise to Appear (PTA) with a future court date. His driver’s licence is automatically suspended for 90 days and would face a one year suspension if convicted. The vehicle was seized and impounded for seven days, with the accused being responsible for all fees and fines.

Man Charged with Indecent Act at Local Gym

A 37-year-old Belleville man was charged with an indecent act after an incident at a Kingston gym.

On August 21, 2017 the accused and the complainant were in the sauna in the men’s change room of a fitness center. Initially the accused engaged the complainant in small talk. When the accused comments became inappropriate the complainant attempted to ignore him. The complainant left sauna when the accused began masturbating. The accused followed the complainant as he headed for the showers, at which point the complainant fled the change room to report the incident to the management.

Police were contacted and Detectives from the Sexual Assault unit began an investigation.

On October 6, 2017 the accused turned himself in at police headquarters. The accused charged with indecent act and released with a future court date.

Anonymous Information Ends with Arrest for Domestic Abuse

A 22-year-old local man has been arrested for domestic assaults after police receive anonymous information.

On October 2, 2017 police received anonymous information that the victim had been assaulted by her domestic partner. Officers made contact with the victim and began an investigation which revealed the accused had assaulted her on three occasions. In 2014 the accused became upset with the victim and put his hands around her throat. On September 15, 2017 the accused punched the victim in the eye. Sometime within two weeks after the last assault the accused sexually assaulted the victim while she was in the shower.

On October 6, 2017 the accused was located and arrested. The accused was transported to police headquarters where he was held to attend a bail hearing the following day.

The accused was charged with sexual assault and two counts of assault.

Wanted Kingston Man Arrested in Mississauga

On October 2, 2017 police requested the public’s assistance in locating accused 34-year-old Matthew Glenn Greene for assault.

Update

On October 6, 2017 the accused was located in Mississauga and arrested by Peel Regional Police. The accused was returned to Kingston where he was held for bail.

The accused was charged with break enter and commit, assault and three counts of breach probation.
