Calls for Service

Kingston Police had 148 calls for service during the 24 hour period starting from 5:00 a.m. on November 29, 2017. Of these, 83 calls occurred in the city central area, 43 in the west end, 7 in the east end, and 4 north of Highway 401. Some of these included:

  • 8 domestic calls
  • 3 assault calls
  • 2 sexual assaults
  • 3 harassment calls
  • 2 fight/disturbance calls
  • 3 undesirable calls
  • 2 drunk calls
  • 1 custody dispute call
  • 1 alarm call
  • 4 noise complaints
  • 2 missing person calls
  • 2 Mental Health Act calls
  • 4 medical assist calls
  • 16 assist citizen calls
  • 4 break and enter calls
  • 14 theft calls
  • 5 shoplifting calls
  • 5 mischief calls
  • 3 fraud calls
  • 7 motor vehicle collisions
  • 1 impaired driving call
  • 7 driving complaints
  • 3 traffic concerns
  • 12 suspicious activity calls
  • 2 drug calls

There were 3 individuals arrested within the last 24 hours including 1 man and 2 women, between 23 and 45 years of age, for the following: assault, utter threats, mischief, resist arrest, impaired driving, fail to provide breath sample, and breach probation.

Man Using Stolen Credit Card Identified from Surveillance Video

A 32-year-old local man using a stolen credit card was identified by police after officers viewed surveillance video.

On October 31, 2017 police received a report of a theft from a vehicle parked at residence east of the city. Various items were stolen along with the complainant’s wallet which contained a quantity of cash, a credit card and a gift card for a local hardware store.

The accused was recorded on multiple surveillance cameras using the stolen credit card at locations in Gananoque and Kingston. The accused was identified by police after viewing the surveillance video.

On November 27, 2017 at approximately 9:00 p.m. the accused was located by patrol officers on MacDonnell Street. The accused was arrested and transported to police headquarters where he was held to attend a bail hearing the following day.

The accused was charged with two counts of possession of property obtained by crime, use of credit card obtained by crime, and fraud.

Citizens Stop Impaired Driver from Fleeing After Collision

A 27-year-old Toronto woman was arrested for impaired driving with the help of citizens who prevented her from fleeing the scene of a collision.

On November 29, 2017 at approximately 6:30 p.m. the accused was driving northbound on University Avenue at a high rate of speed when she struck a parked vehicle near Brock Street. The accused attempted to continue driving northbound but swerved into oncoming traffic before coming to a stop on the front yard of an address on the west side of University Avenue. The accused then attempted to flee on foot, but was held by witnesses until police arrived.

The accused was belligerent with officers and uncooperative through the booking process at police headquarters and she refused to provide breath samples.

The accused was charged with impaired driving, and fail to provide breath sample.

The accused was later released with a future court date. Her driver’s licence is automatically suspended for 90 days and would face a one year suspension if convicted.

Man Assaults Ex-Girlfriend when He Decides to Move Out

A 23-year-old local man living with his ex-girlfriend attacked her after declaring that he was moving out.

On November 30, 2017 at approximately 12:15 a.m. the accused and the victim were arguing when the accused decided he was moving out. The argument escalated and the accused grabbed the victim by her throat and threatened to knock her out. A roommate intervened and called police.

The accused was arrested and transported to police headquarters where he was held to attend a bail hearing the following day.

The accused was charged with assault, utter threats, and breach probation.

Victim Attacked After Letting Ex Stay with Her

A 45-year-old local man living with his ex-girlfriend was arrested after returning home and attacking her.

On November 30, 2017 at approximately 2:00 a.m. the accused returned home. The accused had allegedly been out drinking and was aggressive and insulting to the victim upon his return. Eventually the victim asked him to leave at which point the accused threated to have her killed. He then smashed a coffee table and when the victim called 911 he grabbed her phone and threw it. The accused punched the victim in the face and she fled to the bathroom where she locked herself in until police arrived.

On arrival an officer observed the accused waking away and directed him to stop. The accused resisted arrest and officers were required to use force to handcuff him.

The accused was transported to police headquarters where he was held to attend a bail hearing the following day.

The accused was charged with assault, utter threats, mischief, and resist arrest.
