Coluni Tree Summer Company Student Kasey Masson – Cornwall Ontario – August 3, 2010

Cornwall ON – I’m Kasey Masson and I’m in my last semester at the University of Guelph getting a double major Bachelor of Arts in Art History and History. I’ve always been a creative and crafty person and I grew up around antiques and my parents reinventing them into something new and modern. For years I’ve been helping out and creating my own unique upcycled products, after getting compliments for years I’ve decided to turn it into a business.
I take used and vintage jewellery and items and reinvent them into modern merchandise. All the products I am currently selling are focused around women’s jewellery, accessories and the vanity table. Some things you could expect to see are all types of jewellery, as well as uniquely reinvented ways of storing and displaying jewellery and accessories.
The name Coluni Tree was created by my mother many years ago, Coluni stood for College and University fund and we chose the tree for it is a symbol of knowledge and growth. I’ve decided to use the name for both meanings are still appropriate, but also because the symbol of the tree pertains to my business idea of upcycling and keeping things from ending up in the landfill.
You can find me on Fridays at the Maxville Farmers Market from 2-6pm and Saturdays at the Downtown Cornwall Market from 8am til 1pm, up until the end of August. You can also reach me at 613-346-2058, and my email is coluni_tree@hotmail.com. I also have a facebook page under the name Coluni Tree, for those who would like to keep in touch, ask questions about my products or follow what’s going on with my business.
I’m also currently working on my store at www.etsy.com/shop/ColuniTree, which will allow people to continue to view and purchase my products once I return to school in the fall. I hope to have it up and running in a week or two.
