Bob Gainey wins his first back on the bench. Habs beat Oilers in OT

bob Habs GM and now Head Coach Bob Gainey won in his debut game back behind the bench as the Canadians beat Edmonton 4-3 in OT.

Captain Saku Koivu led the way with 2 goals.  It was a nice game.  They weren’t blown out shotwise; Gregory Stewart had a fight; Chris Higgins took six shots with no goals; and Carey Price was solid enough to win.

Alex Tanguay and Matt Schneider also had impact nights.    I’m sure Bob isn’t too unhappy with the evening.

That Dog Alex Kovalev failed to put a point up on the boards though.   Wonder how long he’ll do that before Bob sends him to his room without cookies again?

NHL SCORES: Marty Brodeur edged closer to Patrick Roy last night as the Devils beat Calgary 3-2;  Philly 5-2 over Buffalo;  Columbus shut out the Bruins 2-0; the Leafs beat the Isles 3-2 as their quest to not get John Tavares in the draft continues; Penguins 4-3 in a Shootout win over Florida; Detroit beat Phoenix 3-2 in OT; Washington capped Nashville 2-1; St. Louis gave Dallas the Blues 5-2; and finally Atlanta shut out Colorado 3-0.
