Habs Beat NJ 3-1 Jaroslav Halak Picks Up Another Win – NHL SCORES – January 23, 2010

With rumors swirling of his imminent departure from Montreal Jaroslav Halak just keeps kicking out the pucks.  And why not?  He’s worked hard.  He’s not said anything dumb; at least into a microphone.   He’s been a good citizen in NHL terms and he’s at the point now where he’s on the cusp of cashing in on all of his efforts.

The Habs beat the Devils in New Jersey friday night by the score of 3-1.  They were out shot which seems to be the only way the team can win.   Jaro gave up the first goal, but Benoit Pouliot who seems to have remembered where he was drafted, and my favorite Hab Mike Cammallieri scored goals along with Matt Darche who’s here to do what messers Pacioretty and D’Agostini were supposed to do this year; play tough and get the odd goal.

A big concern for the Habs is that teams are keying on Andrei Markov.   Jaroslav Spacek or someone has to pick up the slack or teams will be able to continue to do so.  Montreal needs more shots from their Defense to shake open some rebounds and space.   Wouldn’t Dion Phaneuf look good in the bleu, blanc, et rouges?

  1. Good for him, but the Devils didn’t have their scoring touch. They shot the puck into his chest and pads all night.
