Cornwall Regional Art Gallery Annual Juried Exhibit Awards Presented – Rachel Bourgon 1st Prize Winner for “Knox” Cornwall Ontario – January 29, 2010

Rachel Bourgon is one happy artist.  Her painting entitled “Knox”  won first prize and a $400 cheque at the Cornwall Regional Art Galleries Annual Juried Exhibition.

Sylvie Lizotte was a very busy woman as she prepared for the event.  It all cumulated with the prize winners and the art that will be on display at the gallery for the next six or so weeks.

2nd Prize Winner was Sharon McDonnell’s “Maclauchlin Pine”.

3rd went to Emily MacLeod’s “Fuego”.

4th Prize went to Denise Dowdy’s “Public Reaction Drawing” and fifth to Jeanine Robertson’s “Tango”.  There was an amazing diversity of colour’s, styles, and mediums at this exhibit and it really exposed some of the truly talented artists in the area.

  1. The show was great. Even a non-artist like me enjoyed the creativity, the colour and hanging out with a few of the artists. The show is on till March 5th. All visitors can vote for the piece they like. A FAN favourite will be announced at the end of the show. No purchase necessary, but you might get tempted. .

  2. Rachel, Sharon & Emily…congratulations ladies. Not only are these ladies creative and talented they are wonderful, loving people. How fortunate Cornwall and S.D.&G. are to have them here in our community. Perhaps The City would consider giving up some space in the new arena project to highlight some of our incredible local talent. How about an Artist Run Gallery? The new arena will most certainly see many new visitors to Cornwall and this would most certainly benefit and highlight our area Artists and our community’s appreciation of them. There are examples of this in Ottawa such as the Napeon Sportsplex. Our visitors would appreciate it as well. There will be visitors who would appreciate something else to do on the premises besides watching a sport event.
