Cornwall Ontario Makes Pitch to be host of 2010 Actifest Games – June 8, 2010

Cornwall ON – Candy Pollard was a very busy lady last week as she power toured the committee from the Ontario Senior Games who have to select a city for their Actifest Games for 2012.  Cornwall is in the running and Ms Pollard made sure the committee saw why Cornwall makes so much sense to be their choice!

I caught up with the gang as they were taking a brief respite to have lunch at The Best Western Parkway Inn and Conference Centre which would host many of the VIP’s in 2012.  Ms Pollard and the committee were joined by Mayor Bob Kilger and Mr. Paul Lefebvre from the Best Western.

Some of the local facilities toured were NAVCAN, Glen Walter Park, Cornwall Golf and Country Club as well as Summerheights, The Civic Complex, Olympia Bowl, Legion, Long Sault Arena, Guindon Park, The Aqautic Centre, and Iroquois Lawn Bowling Club.

There are so many advantages for this group in choosing Cornwall from the ease of travel to super medical services.

It should be interesting to see how this evolves and we’ll be bringing you updates as the news unfolds.
