Kinsmen Cornwall Lift-Off was founded in 1994 and has since hosted back-to-back Canadian National Hot Air Balloon Championships in 1996 and 1997. The success of the festival has grown considerably from its modest beginnings in 1994. This year, an exciting assortment of live entertainment and fireworks will compliment the arrival of 25 hot air balloon teams. This year’s festival will be held July 8th to 11th, 2010 in Cornwall’s scenic Lamoureux Park. It is anticipated that the 2010 festival will attract more than 55,000 spectators from Eastern Ontario, Western Quebec and Northern New York State.

Kinsmen Cornwall Lift-Off provides the opportunity for the public to purchase a balloon flight from Lamoureux Park. “There is so much excitement at the launch field that it is totally contagious” commented Mary Marleau, Hot Air Balloon Chair. “It is a very unique experience and provides a really fantastic view of the entire city”.

There are currently six flight windows scheduled for the 2010 festival, beginning Thursday, July 8th in the evening until the morning of Sunday, July 13th. Typically, a flight over the city would fly between 500’ – 1500’ although, depending on the wind currents, altitudes can be somewhat higher. The cost of a flight is $175 per person.
