Local Music opens for Chantal Kreviazuk at Kinsmen Cornwall Lift-Off 2010 by Jason Setnyk – Cornwall Ontario – July 11, 2010

Cornwall ON –Graham Greer who has lived in Cornwall for a few years now is probably best known as the lead singer, guitarist, and songwriter of Barstool Prophets. But Greer has been really making a name for himself. On Saturday he also opened up for Chantal Kreviazuk at Liftoff, and today (Sunday July 11th) he is playing Bluesfest in Ottawa from 5pm to 6pm. Later Sunday night Rush is playing, as well as Strippers Union (featuring Rob Baker of Tragically Hip and Craig Northey of Odds) and Levon Helm (of The Band). The festival headliners for this years Ottawa Bluesfest include Arcade Fire, Iron Maiden, Keith Urban, Matthew Good, Santana, Rush, and Weezer!

Mel and The General Electryk opened up the music Saturday for Kinsmen’s Liftoff 2010. Melanie McDonald said it was an honour playing a show with a woman who has the musical calibre of Chantal Kreviazuk, and that opening up for Chantal Kreviazuk would be her claim to fame.

Mel and The General Electryk played an energetic set for the thousand people on hand watching the local bands play. After the show McDonald and the band signed autographs for fans. Melanie and The General Electryk are headlining a show on Friday July 16th at Café Connectionz, a Rock for Charity benefit for Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Cornwall.
