Cornwall ON – Here’s your police blotter for Cornwall Ontario Wednesday August 18, 2010.

WARRANT

Cornwall, Ont. – Andrew Michael Edwards, 36, of Maxville turned himself into police on the 16th of August, 2010 on the strength of a warrant.  He was bound by a Conditional Sentence Order with a condition to remain under house arrest.  It is alleged that on the 25th of July, 2010 he breached his condition and a warrant was requested.  He was arrested and held in custody until court later that day.

THEFT UNDER $5,000.00

Cornwall, Ont. – A 17 year-old Cornwall female was arrested following a shoplifting incident on the 16th of August, 2010.  It is alleged that she stole merchandise from a Ninth Street East grocery store.  She was detained by the store’s Loss Prevention Officer until the arrival of a member of the Cornwall Community Police Service.  She was arrested for 1 count of Theft Under $5,000.00 and later released to the custody of a parent.  She is scheduled to appear in court on the 30th of September, 2010 to answer to the charge.  Her name is not being released due to provisions under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

DOMESTIC ASSAULT

Cornwall, Ont. – A 33 year-old Cornwall male was arrested for domestic assault on the 16th of August, 2010.  It is alleged that he had an argument with his 29 year-old wife at which time it is alleged that he slapped and punched her.  The victim received medical attention for her injuries. Police were contacted and an investigation commenced.  He was arrested for 1 count of Domestic Assault and held in custody for court.  His name is not being released as it may identify the victim in this incident.

THEFT UNDER $5,000.00 and BREACH OF PROBATION

Cornwall, Ont. – Joey Joseph Shannon, 27, of Cornwall was arrested on the 16th of August, 2010 following an investigation from a group home.  He was bound by 3 separate Probation Orders with the common condition to Keep the Peace and be of Good Behaviour.  It is alleged that he attended a group home where he once resided and stole a television.  Police were contacted and an investigation resulted in the male being charged with 1 count of Theft Under $5,000 and 3 counts of Breach of Probation.  He was released and is scheduled to appear in court on the 28th of September, 2010 to answer to the charges.

MISCHIEF, BREACH OF UNDERTAKING and BREACH OF PROBATION

Cornwall, Ont. – A 17 year-old Cornwall youth was arrested on the 17th of August, 2010 for several offences.  He was bound by an Undertaking Order and 2 Probation Orders with the same condition:  to Keep the Peace and be of Good Behaviour.  It is alleged that on the 04th of August, 2010 he caused mischief to a motor vehicle.  Police were contacted and an investigation resulted in the youth being charged with 1 count each of Mischief Under $5,000.00, Breach of Undertaking and Breach of Probation.  He was held in custody until court on 18thof August, 2010.  His name is not being released due to provisions under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

DRUGS

Cornwall, Ont. – Taylor Andrew Bergeron, 20, of Cornwall was arrested while entering Cornwall through the point of entry.  It is alleged that he was located in possession of drugs, believed to be marijuana.  He was detained by a member of the Canada Border Services Agency until the arrival of the Cornwall Police.  He was arrested and released to appear in court on the 28th of September, 2010 to answer to the charge.

THEFT OF MOTOR VEHICLE

Cornwall, Ont. – The Cornwall Community Police Service is investigating the theft of a white 1999 Ford F-350 pick up truck from a Fifth Street East parking lot.  The vehicle has a blue space cap on the rear of the truck and contains a large quantity of tools.  If you have any information regarding this theft, please contact the service by dialing (613) 932-2110.
